I don't follow the church because I don't trust them but I do follow God, I cut out the middle man. My friends consider me a Saint.
They just need to learn to believe in their own ideas and not what they are told, we all know the difference between right and wrong.

I agree with most of what you had to say, but you left out one word: "FALSE"...false religion is the cause of much of the world's misery in most every aspect: wars, murders, rapes, cheating, stealing, using the tongue as a weapon to hurt your fellow man, giving false advise to church goers and otherwise weak minds whose ears are appealed to by lies and garbage. I have seen that most folks like to "do things on their own" (even though they admit they are imperfect) independent of God's standards, so that's why all the turmoil in the world today; the weak minds pick and choose tidbits from Bibles or Qarans and don't read only the Bible in its entirety for truthful and full answers. They don't pray for wisdom and truth from God also.
False religions hurt so many people and is among the leading cause of death, destruction and most immoral conduct in the world. Don't concentrate so much on trying to convince people to give up on organized religion, but convince them to pray ernestly for the true religion and to live their lives by this truth. Living one's life by the truth will be most evident, but unfortunately about 88 to 90% of the world don't and won't get it...the best thing to do is to pray ernestly and ask that God show you the truth; keep your thoughts and conscience clean and the devil won't seep in and cause doubt. God can only work with the heart of the meek (teachable) one...also read Acts 10: 34 - 35. I hope this has helped. Remember "FALSE" religion hurts everyone and this is about satan's #1 tool he uses to mislead so many and cause so much chaos...he's doing a great job isn't he? He uses television, the internet, sex, drunkeness, gambling...blah blah blah....you gotta be on your toes to be strong in today's world, and aware of the many snares he uses to dupe you...Good luck.

I'm an athiest, but I'm no more threatened by religion than I am by governments, monopolies, unrestrained military power... I think you'd be much better off trying to find common ground; you'll get a lot more accomplished than if you try to 'convert' everyone.

There are two types of believers. The first type (which i think most common), simply finds the evidence compelling. These types can be persuaded with strong counter evidence and rational discourse.
The second type is less rational and had faith for emotional reasons. They can be persuaded with emotional appeals sometimes.

You have to simply have the nerve to respond to people's approaches to you about organized religion with "Religion is against my religion." That's what I do and they no longer try to discuss it with me.
But it would take more than one person to do that to disband all of them. Most people who are approached about their beliefs just tell the asker what they want to hear or make up excuses.
I just stay honest with myself and my friends and acquaintances.

It's not about convincing. It's about giving people complete information about what it is. Then everyone is free to do whatever they want.
And mind you, I'm an unbeliever, but I don't think my task is to drag people out of churches.
