Just because someone says they are a Christian, doesn't make it so. I could say I was a rock but that wouldn't be true, would it??? A true Christian is one who has confessed his sins to the Lord Jesus and asked forgiveness and asked Him into their heart to stay. When they do that, they become a new creation in Christ Jesus, old things have passed away. If there is not some kind of change in that person, then I Highly doubt they have actually asked Him into their hearts. Some believe just because their parents are Christians they are too. But not so. Being born-again is a personal relationship with Jesus and everyone has to make that decision for themselves. Some think going to church and doing good works make you a Christian but not so, the Word says that none of us are righteous. And some think just because they are not another "religion" then they must be a Christian. Not so, again it must be a personal relationship with Jesus. I hope this has helped you to understand why some show no good fruit in their lives. They are not born-again. They have never been changed. When Jesus comes into your heart to live, you know it. God bless you for asking this question.

Christianity is both a religion and a way of life. Unfortunately, some people only see it as one or the other. Those who see it as a religion believe but don't live the message. Those who see it as way of life try to live it, but often fail because they forget that they must not judge lest they be judged and they often wind up giving outsiders a view of Christianity as a religion of hypocrisy. A very limited number of people both believe and follow Christianity as a way of life and they are the people like Mother Theresa who people view as saints.

Unfortunately believing in God dos not automatically makes one a good person. The fact that God is in their life thought, means that they can ask for forgiveness. Of course there are also the hypocrites(those who uses the name of God to criticize and judge others).
AS for Christianity...I think we both feel somewhat the same. I believe that the true believers should devote their time to trying to become a better person...as opposed to giving themselves some kind of self righteous throne to sit in judgment.

Well, there may be two different types of people you are talking about here.
There are sincere Christians who struggle with a particular sin. They despise that sin, they continually try to get it out of their life, but they still struggle with it.
The other type are those that love their sin, but don't want to think of themselves as sinners. They look to verses that say we are all sinners as an excuse not to repent, and if anyone tries to correct them they tell them to go take the plank out of their own eye. These people may or may not be in a saved relationship with Jesus, but they are certainly putting that relationship in more and more jeopardy everyday.

I have looked for a true christian for more than 45 years and have never yet met one. Calling yourself one, going to church,, reading the bible does NOT make you a christian. You have to be Christlike and simple common sense will tell you that THAT is impossible. Trying to be like Jesus is like trying to flap your arms and fly. Can't be done. BUT the continuous trying is a great way to suffer shame and guilt to the point of insanity.
God loves you just the way you are. Cussing, drinking and ALL.
God doesn't make junk.

Welcome to human beings 101. Man at his core is as selfish and self seeking as an infant or your pet dog that fights over a bone. What separates man from beast is the possibility of having God dwell within us and change us into a new creature. Unfortunately this takes constant and conscious effort. We must die to self every day and allow God to take control or we will end up just another hipocrit. As Paul said, I die daily, meaning he had to die to his own motivations and his own desires every single day as one slip could hurt his witness. Sad to say but most that take the name of Christ, do so in vain today, as we fly his banner and fight under the devils. We must make a determined effort to allow God to have the reigns of our hearts every morning and pray that he controls us each day. It is not about church attendance or putting up a good front that is a defining characteristic of Christianity, but a true and total conversion of the heart that does. We must be wholly committed to God each and every day and then we will truly represent Jesus!

Salvation is personal. Your salvation is worked out between you and God. It is the same for those other people. There isn't a big scoreboard in the sky with people's names and the number of their sins. Remember forgiveness. Remember we are not to judge. I know that's harder said than done. I know that I judge people. I know that I sin. Still I believe Jesus Christ is the son of God and that he died for my sins.

Unfortunately us Christians are human first. Even Paul had trouble staying right. Jesus asked us not to judge others but judge ourselves first. A lot of us Christians are notorious about shooting our own"woundeds".
Dont keep your eyes on those around you but keep you eyes upon the Lord Himself then be a cheer leader and a prayer-soldier for the rest of us. We need it. Thanks
