In some countries they are hanged. That way there is motivation to always do your darndest!
In this country, Canada, we vote them out of office implicate them in the wrong doing and then we have to pay them fifty million dollars for defamation of character and let their son be a jerk on CTV.

Majority of wrong doers are in the parliament and they are a coterie. Most of them are not real Representative of people either because they have got in by margin of their skin or through back door like home minister who lost election yet occupies the highest ministerial post. People are fooled that's all

My understanding is that if a Member of the Legislature or Parliament comits a fo'pas then the first step would be the local elective riding political chapter;
They would debate it and vote on it moving forward at which time it would be passed to the Provincial chapter who would notify the MP of the issue and request a statement of facts. If the MP refuses the statement of facts then the federal chapter would censure him/her... *sigh* but don't hold your breath!

Normally in India no action is taken and in fact erring people's representatives are elected time and again.
And saddest part is when prime institutes like II M's invite them for delivering guest lectures.
Never mind we Indians never stand up and fight.
We have the tendency of depending upon others to fight our battle.

Out of Parliament he or she is subject to same IPC as anybody else if it a criminal matter otherwise wait for next elections.I do not think that India have recall system.
