Yes, you're perfectly fine, and do NOT listen to the people who say that you need to lose weight. People have a lot of different body types, but from the information you've provided, you seem to be in good health, and you know your body best. If you think that you may need to gain or lose weight then you should talk over it with a parent and your doctor, and work together to do it in a healthy way.

Here is how I determined that you are at a healthy weight: the body mass index (or BMI) formula. It gives you an idea of the total percentage of body fat you have.

weight (in pounds) x 703 = A
height (in inches) x height = B
A / B = your BMI

Your BMI is 23.3, which is quite healthy.

For a better idea of how you stand in comparison to other people:

emaciated (dead, or nearly so) = under 15
anorexic (a very serious issue) = under 17.5
underweight (still serious) = under 19
normal (the peak of health) = 19 to 24
overweight (somewhat serious)= 25 to 29
obese (a very serious issue) = 30 or higher

Remember that the BMI scale is not an accurate reading if you're extremely active in sports, like a bodybuilder or something.

It is normal to be concerned about your weight/body image, especially in today's image-conscious society, but remember that just because so many people stress thinness over everything else does not mean that it is a good idea. You do not need to be thin to be beautiful (some of the most beautiful people I know have a little extra weight), or to be a swimmer/cheerleader/gymnast/dancer or anything else. Do not let anyone tell you that you need to lose weight... you're great as you are!

According to CDC measurements your BMI is 23.9, indicating you are at a totally healthy weight but are at risk for becoming overweight if you don't take care of yourself. The BMI is notoriously incorrect for many people. However, it can be a good rule of thumb measure.

Everyone carries weight differently. Maintaining mostly lean muscle mass (looking athletic by keeping active and eating healthy) as well as having a weight proportionate figure are good indicators you're just fine.

You're safer looking in a mirror, running around a track or going to a doctor than you are relying on strangers and raw numbers for determining your health. Healthy girls shouldn't be so concerned with what others think of their weight. If you're healthy and others don't like it, then they are the ones with the mental problem.

Once you've finished growing there are more accurate measures of body weight and composition that can inform you on your health, but they don't make sense unless you are borderline obese, are a competitive athlete or are advised to do so by a doctor.

Yes! You're also not finished growing, you've got about 2-3 more years.

Find fun activities to stay active, either exercising with friends, do a pilates video tape or see if there's a dance class at the community center.

You'll find it easier to keep your weight under control if you develop an active lifestyle (always on the move to do something).

It's a little above average for your age, but you are not overweight. Just try to maintain your weight, eat healthily and get involved with sports. HTH : )

your bmi is 17.8, and ideal body mass index is 18.4. you are a bit under average but not in any danger. as long as you're eating normally and not losing weight you'll be fine.
