I quit, again, recently. Who cares whether it's a sin, sins are for the superstitious. Smoking is just a stupid thing to do if you can avoid it.
I was irritated at everything for the first three days but I:
-breathe easier
-have more energy
-have $3 a day I wouldn't have otherwise
-have more time for other things
-have one less thing to worry about
-have better smelling breath
-eat more - not an upside
-don't cough up garbage
-feel like I've actually slept when I wake in the morning.

Sin comes from the greek word Hamartia which literally means, "missing the mark". The mark would presumably be to achieve godliness, or to be Christ like. So if smoking causes you to miss your mark, then I suppose it's a sin. Would this fall under the now famed, "what would Jesus do?"
And this from an athiest.

Yes it is a sin. God wants us to discipline our bodies.
1 Corinthians 9:27 No, I discipline my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.
Romans 12:1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of Gos's mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God - this is your spiritual act of worship.

I agree with some here, it is a sin to your body, for it would definatley function better without them.
Free will, so do as you will. But yeah for a better healthier lifestyle, dont smoke.

Technically no. In the Bible it says to enjoy all things in moderation, but it also says your body is a temple to God. It doesn't expressly forbid it, but it doesn't condone it either, I guess you could say.
But then again, it also depends on the religion you're talking about. In mine, Wicca, it's not. And I enjoy every one I smoke.

2Cor.7:1 tells us -"....let us cleanse ourselves of every defilement of flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in God's fear."
Physical cleanliness and physical holiness are closely linked in the Bible.True Christians, therefore, should strive to keep their body, home, and surroundings clean and tidy,as much as circumstances permit.
