I honestly bath my cats and they are never mad afterwords, as far as her peeing herself she was most likely scared because she was in a enclosed bath tub. She should be fine in a few days. Good luck.
I wouldn't say your child can't be trusted. Just try to sit down with him a talk about what he did, You said he don't like scratch, than instead of getting rid of the Kittie, have her declawed, I know its inhumane, but its could be for the best for you child and the cat.

I used to take my Manx cats to Cat Shows and everyone there bathes their cats before they show them. Bathing a cat is not harmful to it although they may not like it. Normally you should use special shampoo for cats because their skin is pretty sensitive.
The cat peeing in your shower will not harm your shower either. Clean it with bleach and that will kill any germs lurking in any crevice.
The lady that suggested that you set up a sanctuary so the cat can run into it anytime your son is getting too aggressive had a pretty good idea. Also, try, whenever possible to show your son that only gentle touching is allowed on anything alive smaller than himself. This would be a good thing for him to know, not just for the cat, but if he's around smaller children.
You sound like you're getting along alright and it's obvious you care. I hope everything goes well.

Pick an Order, pick what to do and what not to do,.. Both the Cat and your Son are going to be confused about some things.
1. Do not punish the Cat.
2. Declaw the Cat if it's not an Outdoor Cat and you will NEVER be tossing it outside and living it out forever like some heartless people do.
3. Do not Punish your Son
4. Ask your son if he urinated on the cat.
5. Wash the Cat
6. Comfort the cat Dry
7. Explain to Son cat does that when you pick it up or tease it and he should pet the top of the cat ONLY,.. and NOT pick the cat up. Teach Son to pick up cat by scruf of neck (this does not heart the cat but the cat may become frightened,.. physically chemicals are released into the cat... it does not feel much from it's nerves includeing pain and does not send much includeing movement),.. show that cat isn't clawing to hurt but it claws usually do that and the cat's body is doing it. This is way too much for you,.. this would be easier if I was there I am use to being "SBH" and friends with "SBH" kids and I am good with animals,.. odds are you will do all of those wrong because this is something you learn to do automatically,.. so TEACH SON TO PET TOP OF CAT and not pick up cat.
A. I can't remember what I am typeing because my Doctors were Incompetiant and messed up my brain/mind.
B. Have your cat trapped in the Bath Tub / Shower some time while your son isn't home with food, water, and litter so that they get over any truma they have accquired. Have them Trapped in the Bathroom for a while with the water running (not the shower on) and the water not plugged up so that they get bored, explore, and see it's not going to get them and is something they drink,... just don't have water at full blast,.. have toilet seat down and run water in sink, too. Have food and Litter in Bathrrom just incase. Do not do the comforting " Eww" and " Aww" noises. Just flat out say when your going up to the door " -cats name-, are you okay?" open door " -cats name- you were fine in there, see." in a normal tone,.. not anything you do to baby talk or to animals,.. that makes them think something is wrong with where they are at or the situation and they gain more fear,.. you might even want to play with the water a little and tell your cat " Your not going to get a bath today".
Now to get a ton of Thumbs down from people that do not deal with Animals and Children but want some desperately and do not understand me XD

I know you don't want people telling you to get rid of your cat so I am not going to touch that with a ten foot pole. Try and give your cat a safe haven where he can go to hide from your son when your son is coming after him. Allow your son to pet him and care for him but only under YOUR supervison. This will teach the cat that he's safe around you. ALSO your cat should get over the bath issue...most likely he peed not because he was scared but because he was using that as a last resort panic button. I'm KNOW the cat was scared but I don't think your son scared the "pee" out of the cat.

sorry, but the cat has to go because the child cannot be trusted to treat the cat properly. It is not the child's fault, but he has to come first. Maybe someone in your family can take the cat so that you can visit it.
I have a developmentally delayed, autistic & moderately retarded grandson who is 6 1/2 yrs. old, so I understand what you are goind through. Good luck & God bless.

I'm not sure what your question is here, but here's what I'd do in that situation.
Clean your shower out.
Tell your son that he should leave the cat alone.
If he has trouble doing that (which is pretty likely if he's autistic) you should get rid of the cat.... it comes down to the well-being of the cat and your son... you don't want the cat being tortured by your kid, and you don't want your son being attacked every time he pisses off the cat.
That's what I'd do anyway....

No, no. The cat peed because of the warm or cool water. Just like people do in showers and pools.

The cat deserves to not be tortured. Give the cat to a shelter, preferably no kill. I'm sorry that you have an autistic child. Although I am sure there are ways to discipline him and teach him self-discipline, the animal deserves to have a decent life while you and your son go through the process.
