They should start working in about 1/2 hour. Ambien is a short-acting sleeping pills which is why they make the repeat-action "CR" form.
Also Ambien can cause in some people, insomnia the following night. Best to take em once in awhile. Not for every night use.

I tried Ambien and it doesn't work for me so I know how you feel. Try taking a warm bath and drink some lavender tea with milk and no sugar. You might try some relaxation exercises such as self hypnosis and transcendental meditation. Go to the book store for more info. Good luck and G-d bless !!

It depends your body may be ammuned to them. Also you could be one of those whocan't take ambien for sleep. Some people take ambien to reduce swelling and reduce depression. I was on ambien for only a month then the mg had to be doubled month after that they had to double it again. The doctor finally just took me off the medication, because he could tell ambien worked the opposite for me and my body got amuned to it quickly. I now take seroquel, of course I am on such a high dosage that I had to get special permission for my medical to pay for it, but it works. You may want to tell your doctor to try you on a different medication. Age has alot to do with ambien too, so talk with your doctor!!!

I hope you can wake up when you do fall asleep. Be vary carefull taking them they can play hell on your stomach and liver. I think 3 is too much. Try relaxing your mind and praying that is a better way of falling asleep. also drink a glass of milk or take a table spoon of honey. It really does work.

Well, hopefully when you fall asleep, you will wake up. If one doesn't work for you, you should ask your Dr. for something else or something stronger, not overdose!
