God is not limited by space or time, such is the concept in most religions. So the question would become, Did God see what was happening in Hiroshima and why did he not intervene?
Most monotheistic religions will state that this world is temporary, it is just a test. Well, God cannot reveal himself if it is just a test.
For someone who works in pediatrics unit in hospital, he could be asking the same question, "God, where were you when such this baby died?"
Someone from India who lost his kid could be saying "Where were you when great water came and took my kids away?"
The list goes on...
You don't give up your faith because some tragic events happen. You move on to do what little effort you can and contribute a little to make this world a better place for at least people surrounding you.
God knows that everyday tragedies happen in lives of millions of people, but He does not intervene. He is the one with true knowledge, and all you can do trust him.
There was a photographer who visited Africa. He saw a kid, too weak from malnutrition, skins and bones, unable to walk or do anything. He was abandoned in desert. And in the picture that the photographer took, there was a scavenger bird a few meters away.
I read in the internet that the photographer won great awards for the picture. But when he saw that child, still breathing, destined to be eaten alive by scavengers, I guess he just lost it.
Some reports say he did not help the kid. He later died of suicide.
Losing trust in God is dangerous. Whatever happens, God will not intervene, but it does not mean he is ignorant. The rewards for most of your deeds are not meant to be obtained in this world.

This became an act of conflict. A tremendously mandatory act of conflict, at that. there have been no possibilities that ought to be perfect: a million- the U.S. became waiting for conflict, so enable them to attend to it. the final undertaking the u . s . a . needed became a crimson Japan. The bomb drops have been additionally an incredible deterrent for the U.S.. That became no longer a objective, yet a further earnings. 2- Explode a nuke on a distant island, invite perfect brass jap to witness. This became proposed. And -rightfully- rejected. the jap might probable thought the explosion became staged. In real existence, after 2 bomb drops the jap had to be recommended no.3 became on the way. or maybe after the renounce some military contraptions staged a coupe d'etat to maintain on struggling with. 3- Starve Japan. no longer an decision. the u . s . a . wasn't that inhumane, and it would take a techniques too long to artwork. 4- Invade Japan. Operation Olympic could have been horrendous. a minimum of 0.5 a million US casualties have been expected. Japan would not have that many beaches perfect for invasion, and arranged to take care of those few beaches. there have been much extra jap troops interior the area than the u . s . a . expected. So i think of the 0.5 million (and extra than a number of different million jap) casualties have been a gross understatement. it could have been lots worse. Given the circumstances, this became the main humane answer. besides, why do no longer you communicate with reference to the act of terrorism which in effect became the raid on Pearl Harbor? It became magnificent to attack with no assertion of conflict then.

Yes, God was watching, how could one look away - and maybe God although shocked at the violence and loss of life, was for the first time privy to a destructive event of Biblical (think Old testament) proportions caused by his creation.
But did the holy wars of history sadden this God, no.
And was not the side dropping the bomb a Christian nation, yes.
By that line of reasoning perhaps he was pleased, although I must say that I am not.

Yes, and I believe God suffered along with those who were killed or maimed by the bomb.
You see God in the way some humans react to the suffering of others.
There are always those who work so hard to help their fellow humans and to reduce suffering - dedicated doctors, nurses, volunteers who dig others out of the rubble and try to provide food and shelter to the survivors. They are doing God's work, whether they realize it or not, and in their faces you see God.
Oh man. I gotta laugh at Haydn's response. If God is everywhere, then God is in his poo. hahahahahaha.
You've got a good sense of humor. I love a good laugh.

As God is wise and compassionate, and the act of nuclear destruction is neither wise or compassionate, God was present, He did not inspire the destruction, but his presence was felt in the pain and suffering when the Japanese were able to empathisize with that pain.
Wherever there is hope, there is God. The hope that was born of Hiroshima came in the healing. as God is wise and compassionate, yes, he was there -- as healing and forgiveness requires hope.

yes, the Japanese went to far with their brutality and devotion. They should have just surrendered, thank god for the atomic bomb that day, the bomb which spared so many lives. Think of it, each Japanese citizen was ready to die, imagine the amount of casualties on both sides, it would have dwarfed the amount caused by the nuclear blasts.

Yes, God is everything and everyone.
The grand play there was on the dark side like the play in Pearl Harbor USA.
In my opinion it is a mistake to think God is only there when things are OK.

No.
He lets earthlings create their own demise. Once they get knocked around enough, they start searching for something more meaningful and eventually they come to Him.
