Our vet does it by 4 months old, but some prefer the dog to be 6 months. Check with your vet. It's best to get it done no later than 6 months as it's better to do before she goes into her first heat.

If you are dead set on spaying your Shih Tzu, then at least wait until 6 months. There are some studies out there now that say if you spay to early or at all in some cases, you can cause more problems down the line then you prevent.

I would wait until she is 6 months old. Some vets do spays and neuters at around 2 months but I don't support that.

It's traditional to spay her at 6 months, although some vets can do it as early as 8 weeks.

The sooner the better.

Spaying is extremely important with Shih Tzus, as if they are not spayed, they tend to produce Shih Tzus.

Most vets will do it at 3 months but I personally like to wait till they are 4 to 5 months. This gives them a little change to grow up before they go under! Definitly do it before she turns 6 months old. A pregnacy at 6 months would be too hard on her!

Around 6months of age. I would defiantly get her spayed before she goes into heat. There are studies out now that show that dog that go into heat have a greater chance of developing mammary tumors.
