If you put it there then yes. Other than that it depends on the deal thats made. Most painters I know also do repair work wether it's inside or out. If the contract stipulates that repairs will be involved then they better get done and done right if you ever want to get paid. If it's not and there's a problem with a surface than you need to contact the property owner and explain why you can't finish the job and renegotiate on the cost of repairs. If an agreement can't be made then it's up to you wether you finish or not.
Sometimes if it's a small repair some guys will do it just to keep the customer happy. Word of mouth is the best things you can have in a job like that and if you have happy clients your wallet will be happy too.

If the hole was caused by the painter, yes... or, that is, (s)he should provide compensation for the damage (reduced rate for the painting in the amount of the repair, for example). If the hole was pre-existing, and you're a wall-painter with no experience patching/smoothing/retexturing the wall, and don't have qualifications.... no! The owner might then hold you liable if the the patch sucks........ and you would be, because you weren't suppose to! But... if the hole was already there and you're qualified for such things... yes :) Hope I helped ;)

not really, depending on the type of wall. ie drywall (typical) would be a drywaller, Wood wall would be a carpenter, Masonery Wall would be a brick mason etc...A painter would then cover up the repair with paint...
