Yes...if you ever lose the cat and it is sent to the animal shelter most of them scan for these chips nowadays and they would be able to contact you about your cat.

If your cat happens to run off and someone turns it in to the humane society or pet shelter, they can call you and tell you they have your pet instead of you worrying about where he/she is. It would be worth it that way. Many pets are lost and they see if there is a micro chip. If they don't have one, they try to adopt the pet out, if not, they may have to put the pet to sleep if nobody claims or adopts it within a certain time frame. It is worth it. My kitten I recently adopted has one. He is fine with it. He does try to run out the door on occasion. He is pretty fast too. If you get one. You need to keep the number they give you in case you move so you can keep your address and phone number updated.

If your cat ever goes wandering and gets picked up by the pound or is taken to the vet after getting hit by a car, it's more than worth it - it can save his life.

For cats that have access to outside... YES. Now, my youngest dog is hardly ever out side, but if something happened (ex some one broke into my house) and she got out, I would know that my and her indication would always be on her. That gives a since of comfort.

Absolutely! One of my strictly indoor cats sneaked outside and ended up almost a mile away. When she was taken to the shelter and they scanned her microchip, I was called. I got my cat back, which might not have happened otherwise. Accidents happen.

Yes, if they go outside at all. Collars fall off or get lost so a chip is a fail-safe ID.
