Im just taking a guess here. So I dont know this for sure. But I have dyed my hair in the past and it seems to get realy dry after i do it. So I am assuming it would have something to do with producing natural oils for the hair that are helpful? I supose i probably shouldn't guess but what other reason could there be? Besides adding another chemical to the chemicals they put into your hair to get it straightened, and BAMM! you start a chemical reaction that lights your hair on fire and next thing you know, spontaneous combustion?

I wondered the same thing before i got my hair straightened. I asked the woman who straightens my hair and she told me that it takes about three days for the chemicals to set in your hair. if you wash your hair, you are very possibly washing out the chemicals.

The chemicals would be washed out, which would remove the straightening.

when you perm/ relax your hair the chemicals that are used break the bonds in your hair, then a nutralizer is applied which helps lock your hair in place in it's new form. To insure that all the bonds are reformed & strong in their new state it is advised not to wash the hair for a few days. If your hair is washed before the bonds have a chance to fully recover your desired hair style could be lost & your money would have been wasted....not to mention the damage that would be done to your hair because you'd probably have it done again

when you relax or perm your hair you change your original shape in new shape..........if you wash it rub the shampoo in it........dry with towel roughly.all these thing damage your hair which is in very delecate condition at this time.
keeping it dry for some time makes the hair get its strength back in new shape
