is it possible that God could have used evolution to create the world in 7 "days", when in fact it was millions of years passing in our time-frame. Does the bible say evolution didn't happen?

Oh sure, yeah, if it's been proven beyond a reasonable doubt, just attribute it to god and make it "fit" into the Bible by making "days" a vague term. Yep, good plan. Nice resolution of cognitive dissonance.

I believe in a Creator; not a GOD as you put it so forceful. No one knows what a day is to a GOD, so why squabble over these petty semantics? I personally believe both are true. Look I am not Christian anymore as said in your other question, but I will not say that your God is fake or false because I do not have that right; however I have far more proof that we evolved over the course of centuries than that we sprang from nothingness in seven days. If we are made from the dust of the Earth (following your logic train here for a little bit) then we are all the children of Gaea, and therefore should be far more respectful to Her than we are doing at the present time. We use all these fossil fuels in this 'Let's use what we've got until Armageddon comes' mentality that your logic seems to follow. I have a question for you though:

How do you explain all the thousands of years of human history when your Bible only covers a span of five thousand years, and only pertains to a certain section of the planet?

To ignore scientific advancement simply because I am told one thing by a Priest is a foolish thing to do. This planet can only sustain so much life, and when it reaches a breaking point we will have to leave and find a new home. What do you think about that?

Considering that the Bible was written well after the evolution of life on earth, and considering the seven days in the Bible does not necessarily equate to our standard week (the concept of a 24 hour day wasn't instituted until well into the feudal system of the dark ages), then I don't see why one can't believe in one and not in the other.

Yes I do!
Well God created the Earth in 7 days.
Then how long was the first day?
The day and night was not created until the 3rd day.
The first day could of been a indeterminate length and not a 24 hour day.

And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:

Genesis 1:14

yes, i believe in God, the Bible and evolution.

the Bible says that to the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years is as one day. what does this mean? it means that the Lord is eternal---He lives and works outside the constraints of time.

I have no problem at all believing that to the Lord, seven days could be millions of years here on earth.

Nor do I have a problem with evolution. Who are we to dictate to the Lord what methods he may use to create life? Are we to say to the Lord, "OK, you can create life out of thin air, but NONE of that evolution stuff!"

No, we can't say that. We're in no position to dictate to the Lord the mechanisms He may use in the process of creation.

So, I don't have a problem with evolution, with the Bible or with believing in the Lord.

I absolutely believe in God.Evolution is the process which God use to change His creation, but not all of His creations are changed through that kind of process. For example man is not come from monkey, man is a new creation of God at that time, monkey is other species different with man.If man is the evolution result of monkey, it must be there is no monkey this time. But God also use that kind of process like what happened to the progress of horse from the past time to now.

I'm not interested in anyone's criticisms of the current scientific theory unless they are also proposing an alternative scientific theory that explains the observable facts - that new species have replaced earlier species ever since life appeared on earth - as well as or better than the current leading theory.

I could write a book lising all my ideas about why atoms cannot exist. But unless I can propose a new theory that takes into account all observations to date concerning the behavior of matter and energy, atomic theory is going to remain solidly in place.

The bible didn't say that it did either. I only believe in God. He did create the world in 7 days. The earth itself could of been here for millions of years, but God formed it and gave it life. God is Mighty and powerful. Nothing is impossible for him.

I believe 100% in evolution, and 100% in God. 7 days was allegorical, because God understood people living in Biblical times wouldn't have understood the concept of human evolution. The Bible very, very vaguely, hints at evolution, when it says in Genesis "Let the earth bring forth..."

You need to define evolution. God uses micro-evolution, and this accounts for variation within species. Macro-evolution, however, does not exist, and cannot be proven. There are no transitional forms in the fossil record. Yikes! Read Michael Denton's "Evolution, a Theory in Crisis." He's a medical doctor and biochemist researcher with unquestioned credentials. Read his chapter on the fossil record. And, he doesn't claim to be a Christian! Shock!!!

In reference to Creation, I don't believe in both, evolution is not Biblical .. it's a scientific theory devised by man.....The Bible does not speak of evolution it speaks of "Creation"...Creation through spoken words. The spoken Words of God!
Evolution theorizes that man evolved from apes; if that be so why are there still apes? Should then (according to evolution) apes be a thing of the past.
I believe in God totally and being as such I believe what is written in God's Word....All things were created by the Word of God!
God said..."Let there be" and there was whatever His Word said.
Words have power!
(note: one of God's days are as 1,000 of our years)
