You are so misinformed. Go learn about Catholic Theology before judging and insulting it.
Catholics DO NOT believe in salvation from "living a good life". We also believe that Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Get that right too, ok?
Good Works do not earn salvation, but as an outward sign of our service to God and for God, good works, as explained in the Book of James, are done.

Although you misquoted the verse, I will answer the question on getting into heaven through living a good life.
"Living a good life" cannot get you into heaven. Ephesians 2:8-9 states "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." No matter how many "good works" a person does they will never be able to "outweigh" their sin. The only way to conquer sin is through the blood of Jesus Christ. His cross is our bridge to Heaven (I love this image!) I am not Catholic, so I do not know many of the rules or beliefs. Also, I do not think all Catholics believe this, so it is not fair to assume that this is the general belief. However, I do know that there is no such thing as enough good works.

The last time I checked, we Catholics had 10 Commandments and 6 Precepts of the Church to observe.
The Commandments are pretty basic, and the Precepts are just common sense for any serious, practicing Christian.
That's not a lot of spiritual "overhead" to deal with.
As for salvation, Catholics know that it is God who saves us. The rest of you can argue about whether it's by faith, or grace, or works, or something else.
Catholics typically are "saved" as infants, long before most Protestants even know how to say the word, and once saved, GOOD WORKS DO INDEED MATTER.
Catholics also know how to effecively deal with sin and all its' eternal consequences, and we take the matter of sin very seriously.
That's why we collaborate with priests, and that's why we rely on some very specific and effective sacramental techniques ... to ensure that we properly express to God both our sincere contrition for sins, as well as our firm intention to repent.
In these very critical matters, practical rules and established procedures make sense ... much more sense than many Protestant Christians might realize ... until it's too late.

Jesus said "I am the way,the truth and the life,no one comes to the Father except through me".
I am not Catholic but this has nothing to do with Catholicism. They believe in Jesus. They know they have to ,to get to heaven, but like Peter said in Acts 15 (paraphrased)" Why put all these customs and rules and regulations on them that neither we,nor our fathers were able to bear?"
In other words,as Paul said,"Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, that He died for our sins and that God raised Him from the dead and you will be saved".
All the other is just man made ritual(except baptism and the REAL Lord's Supper).

First off you've misquoted John 14:6, but close. Catholics believe that verse too. They just put more emphasis on effort than do most Protestants. And, they have much more ritual. There are many Catholics who will be going to heaven, believe it or not.

Intelligent question, yet a bit difficult to answer, but I'll try. I'm Catholic, but no one REALLY knows if their chosen religion is on the right path or not until we meet our creator. There aren't as many rules as most non-Catholics think, but we do believe God and Christ are the same soul in two bodies, Christ's soul being "begotten", not made, from his Father, so in our view they are one and the same, if that makes sense. I see religion as being very personal and we have to find what makes us feel complete in our faith.

What defiles a man. Not what goes in, but what comes out. What does this mean?
There is nothing that can come from a good heart that is not of God................
"Why do you call me good. There is only one who is good. The Father."
A deed done with a good heart seeks no benefit, not self-love, no evil thought, not mischievous goals.
A good deed is not the same..........................................
So when you question their "good life" and question man made rules and laws, you are now sitting on the father's throne--judging.
Now, I have a question for you. I don't judge you. But, I will pose a simple question that might help you reflect on the heart--for remember only God and you know that.
Do you do the cross sign of "Father, Son, and Holy Ghost"
or the kneeling when you pray? Why not?
What defiles a man? Not what goes in, but what comes out........

Because the Catholic religion is full of pagan beliefs fused in with apostate Christianity. They teach doctrines of men,and not what the Bible teaches.
The Catholic Church is part of 'Babylon the Great',the world empire of false religion.Very soon our God,Jehovah is going to do away with all false religion and only true religion will be practiced by those left over from God's great war of Armageddon.

Just read your Bible...
And quote with accuracy....
John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
Reading your Bible will rid you of the extranious rules of religion, and introduce you to Jesus as a God you can have a relationship with.

I'm sorry to have to tell you, Jesus Christ did not say this. It is important for you to get it right when saying that God said this or that. There are many out in the world telling people what God said but God never said what they say.
Just where did you learn to spell? Was it in one of our State Operated Schools?
You quote using words but only use a single letter of the alphabet.???? Strange.><>
