I think it just feels good. I suppose you could say that it stimulates something hormonal in the sense that pleasurable sensations stimulate the release of endorphins, but no more so than a neckrub does in us.

I don't know. Mine like being tickled under the chin and on the sides of their cheeks. Makes them purr.

Kitty has scent glands in well-placed parts of her body...including her face (around the ears and eyes and on the chin). She's marking you as hers! You can't smell it, but other kitties can.

I have two cats...and they all loved to be scratched with my long nails under their chin...all's I know it feels good to them...i just love my kitties!!!

i think it just helps the itches.. my cat does the same thing but i saw some fleas under there when there were fleas no where else on his body but i dont think its hormonal generally

That is one place a cat cant lick to clean itself when u tickle him ithink it is helping him cause you r helping to clean him.
