The only thing I can think of your question meaning is to find updates for WIN XP. This would be Windows Updates, found in the start menu on your desktop.
If you are referring to upgrading from, say, WIN2000 to XP, you don't. You would need to buy the installation CD. While you may be able to borrow a copy from someone else, it is not a good idea. Any time you would need to download anything from MS, like an update or to use their help system, MS now can & does check automattically to see if the XP Operating System on your computer is legal. This would cost both you and your friend a lot of grief no one needs to have in their life. The cheapest legal way out may be to buy a new computer with XP already loaded & with a recovery CD included, especially if yours is an older, slower, model with limited space.

Hey there,
Well, if you mean Windows Updates, then there are three main ways:
1.) Make sure it is set to update automatically. To do this, go to: Start > Control Panel > and double-click Automatic Updates. Make sure that the "Automatic (recommended)" and Every day options are selected. You can choose your own time that you see fit. After doing that, click OK and close out of Control Panel.
2.) You could always go to: http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com or in Internet Explorer, go to: Tools > Windows Update.
3.) Go to Start > All Programs > and at the very top of the menu, select Windows Update. It is usually the 2nd or 3rd option. Depends on what you have installed on your system.
I hope this helps.
Cheers,
Dan
