Seriously no offense, but I fail to understand why anyone would believe in a collection of stories that has been rewritten numerous times, is 2000 years old or older, and based on even older religions.
I mean really...end of days...rapture...revelations. You believe that? I can understand a person living 2000 years ago believing it, but not someone who lives in this day and age.

Because it is ALL ABSOLUTELY TRUE. Your question presents things things as facts that are false, actually LIES.Get your facts before you make a fool of yourself in the questions that you ask.

I am not a christian, but I know the fact that perception is reality. People perceive what they read or hear about as reality and hence believe in it. That fact does not change over thousands of years. Can you be sure what you see and touch now, before you, this very instance, is real and hence believable? It is simply the works of your senses giving you this perception. Imagine this, science advances to a stage when it is possible that your brain is extracted from your body and connected to nodes that sends the right signals to it, feeding it the exact signals of an experience in your everyday life. You then believe you are leading a normal day, despite the fact that it is only a computer feeding you experience of a virtual world. Will the truth matter anymore?

Alright, I'll take your challenge. Yes, I believe in it. I am a science major in college too, if that makes it any more challenging. Christianity, and the New Testament, sprouted out of the Old Testament, which was the Jewish sacred scripture, kept diligently and obsessively for thousands of years, we can be certain of it's authenticity and accuracy to itself by the sheer mass of scrolls and manuscripts found (more copies than for any other religion, philosophy, or literature in history) (and the same goes for the New Testament, too). The Jewish people's entire way of life was based around these writings, not just their religion. When scribes copied these writings to new scrolls, they would throw a new copy away and start over if one letter in the entire scroll was wrong, to make sure they were kept perfectly. When Jesus and His disciples broke away from mainstream Judaism, they kept the validity of these scriptures, and the New Testament gospels recounting Jesus life and ministry were written within decades of Jesus life, death and ressurection. This seems like a long time for us now, when anything that happens is known across the entire world in minutes or even seconds, but in the ancient world, this is about the quickest rate of recording we have evidence of. Keep in mind that the rest of the New Testament books were written by a few men, as they were inspired by God (God inspired all the books of the Bible) to write letters of advice and practical living, and revelations as they came to them from God. There are plenty of things in the Bible that challenge me, but that does not mean I have found any cause to disbelieve it's credibility, only has it caused me to work on rethinking my literal interpretations or understanding of meanings behind events and commands. I hope I have helped you without offending, and I hope I have presented information accurately and to the best of my knowledge and memory. All glory and blessings be to God,
And may God's blessings be upon you.

One more thought: if it was true and good for people 2000 years ago, then it is still true and good for people living today, even if some aspects relating to culture have changed drastically and need to be understood different for the time we live in. The point is this -- truth does not change. Anything that seemed to be true but changed to no longer be true, must never have been true in the first place. Anything that was true at one point, must still be true.

Why do you believe in the Big Bang Theory?

Did you see the two atoms bouncing around until they just happened to bump into each other?

Lots of other things in this life as a matter of faith.

Did you know that there is more historical proof that Jesus Christ existed then there is that Julius Caesar did?

I believe in being a wonderful human being. Not judging others, helping my fellow man, being happy/productive member of society is part of that belief/faith.

Here's the argument, I believe that with the salvation of Christ and his forgiveness I will go to paradise and live forever with no worries or pain.

You're argument is that when I die that's it, there is nothing just death.

If I lived my life with contentment and joy, being a good person, helping people when I can, and living my life to the fullest where do I lose?

Your way I just die and know nothing else, MY WAY I have Heaven, and live forever!!!

Please find someone you respect and listen to what knowing Jesus Christ has done for them and make an informed decision.

God Bless!!

The Holy Bible is a timeless book, and after you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour you will receive the Holy Spirit. That same spirit was in the authors of every book in the Bible and will bring the scriptures to life for you too.

Ecclesiastes 1:9-11 KJV
9 The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun. 10 Is there any thing whereof it may be said, See, this is new? it hath been already of old time, which was before us. 11 There is no remembrance of former things; neither shall there be any remembrance of things that are to come with those that shall come after.

You are obviously still seeking. My prayer for you is that the Lord will continue to draw you closer to Him, and some day you too will have the scriptures come to life and feed your hungry soul.

"The grass withers and the flowers fade, but the Word of our God stands forever." It is never-changing. It has been translated numerous times...do not confused that with rewritten. The Bible says that if anyone adds or takes away from it, they will be punished. There is no older religion than what the Hebrews believed because they were the first people on earth.

A book with ancient stories did not make me a believer, I had to experience it for myself. It's like turning on a light and reading the Truth in the bible for the first time. Before I was a believer the words in the bible was merely words but when you receive the Lord into your life the words become life. You see things so much clearer, God's purpose becomes so clear. It's like walking around in a dark room and you finally find the light to see. It's exciting and you want to share it with others. It's so simple to do but to get people who are walking in the darkness to come to the light can be extremely challenging.

first, the rapture is not what many people are interpreting it to be.

The word rapture does not exist in the Bible.

Second, I found that if you put your hope in mankind your not likely to have much hope.

I became a Christian at 27 and it changes my life for the better.

It is hard to understand with out an open mind. We choose to see, what we want to see. If you don't want to see something, you won't. I meen "seeing" as in "understanding.

It was a personal choice for me. I was an athiest, and a whole lot of other things before i became a Christian.

to sum it up...I used to see things as you are seeing them now, until I read the Bible for myself, got baptized in Jesus name and started praying for His understanding and will.

God bless you in Jesus name....he is cool!

I've said it before, and I'll say it again....

You are not going to convince anyone to agree with you while you are simultaneously insulting them. It is rude to word this question with the level of contempt that you are currently displaying for this religion.

If you were honestly asking for a Christian's explanation of their beliefs, you might consider reading the works of a Christian apologist like C.S. Lewis.

If you were just asking the question to express your personal dislike and disbelief, you might save your time and breath by not asking at all.

Truth withstands the tests of time. The Bible is the only book to this date that has kept its integrity of the translation throughout time. And it is due to the fact is it God-inspired. Anything outside of God will fade in time; but the word of God stands true forever.
