I've been in hair hell for a year. I am a natural Strawberry Blonde, but in early July I dyed it jet black accidentally (thinking it would be a nice chestnut temporarily). My hair is so damaged, that I couldn't lift it, lighten it or dye it until last night. It was originally a medium burgundy brown (i got it a reddish hue from depository shampoos). I bought 7rr dye and a 30 volume developer, like the girl at the store suggested. My hair turned pink! It's like a burgundy-pink-red. But my coppery color is still showing from regrowth. I just want my Strawberry Blonde back! Please help!

I would suggest you go to a really top notch hairdresser who has an in house colorist. It's going to cost a lot (probably $150-230 for a cut and color.) Check out other women's hair and ask someone who has beautiful color. All shades of red are tricky, but a good colorist can help you get through this transition period. Don't make the mistake I did by going to a salon that used Aveda products. They were fine once, but ruined my hair. It took me almost 2 years to grow out so I had all healthy hair once again.

Janae-
When you dye a light color dark brown, it can become black. That is the stupidest answer I have ever heard. You are a moron.

Gingerkid-
You should wait awhile, deep condition it and then go see a proffesional.

Get a haircut every month. Try to cut your hair short. The frequent cuts will make your hair grow faster, and hence, discarding the pink hair quicker.
