When Adam and Eve were created, they were told to be fruitful and multiply. Nowhere in the Bible does it say they disobeyed God in the garden and did not have children there. Apparently there had been many before Cain and Able. We believe Cain and Able were the first ones after they were driven from the Garden of Eden.
Also, how could the pains of childbearing be worse if there had never been childbirth?
The name, EVE, means mother of all. Therefore, I believe Adam and Eve did what God told them to do. Why not?

It is written clearly that with the divine powers of the God, Adam and Eve give birth in twins of the opposite sex. The male from the first pair will only allow to marry the female of the second pair.
that goes the same for the female in the first pair to marry the male in the second pair. That's how the population develops.

According to the Bible Adam and Eve lived for several hundred years. That's a lot of child bearing years. If you figure that Eve could have had a child every year or two for 500 or 600 years that's a lot of kids. Then you figure that each of their kids lived several hundred years and had kids through their child bearing years...well, you end up with a true baby boom and a considerable population.

They did not only have sons but had daughters too, however, only their their sons names were recorded in the Bible. Their sons were able to marry and reproduce with their daugthers, though this would later be forbidden. Genetically, it is theoretically possible for this to have happened without a damaging effect if the original created gene pool were sufficient enough.

Genesis 5 says they had many sons and daughters, many .So it wasn't incest ,it's all there was.God didn't call it wrong until the time of Moses. Why? Because the perfect gene pool of Adam was getting watered down now.

Cain… his brother Abel. Heb. ×ֶת קַ×Ö´× ×ֶת ×Ö¸×Ö´×× ×ֶת ×Ö¸×Ö¶× The word ×ֶת, is repeated three times to suggest additional things. This teaches that a twin sister was born with Cain, and with Abel were born two. Therefore, it is said: ×ַתֹּסֶף, and she continued, or added. — [from Gen. Rabbah 22:2, 3]
this is said by rashi, a commentator on the torah.

Adam and Eve had many other children. Due to their longevity some speculate they had as many as fifty children. Out of necessity, incest was not forbidden until the Mosaic Law.

There were not people already on earth. Adam and Eve had lots of kids, and they married each other. It was okay with God, since there were so few people on earth. Now, however, it wouldn't be okay to marry your sibling.
