Again, it is written of the famine of end time:
["Behold, the days are coming," says the Lord GOD, "That I will
send a famine on the land, Not a famine of bread, Nor a thirst for
water, But of hearing the words of the LORD.] ( Amos 8:11 )

How many go to church and the preacher or minister read one or two verses out of the bible (only) and add his two cents to rest of the time?

What is happening all over the world right now! The fields are drying up and gleenings are getting hard to find.
No prayer in schools.
No Ten Commandments in court houses.
No right to free speach where it says certain life styles are sinfull.
And many other examples. Yes, there is plenty of 'food' around but you have to look for it, it doesn't just fall from the trees as it did 30 years ago. The famine is intensifing too.

Another going into the O.T. for verses to try and prove
something.
This again comes from the books of the Prophets.and deals with things past.
Title
1:Words of Amos one of the shepherds of Tekoa. The visions about Isreal,in the time of Uzziah King of Judah and Jeroboam son of Joash, King of Isreal. two yearsbefore the earthquake.
Introduction:
He said:
Yahweh roars from Zion, and makes himself heard from Jerusalem;the Shepperd's' pastures morn, and the crown of Carmel dries up.
All of these O.T. books deal with things that have or will happen in and around Jerusalem.
he one the world has to worry about is the Armageddon. When War, Pestilence, Famine, and Death will come as the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.

look back to the OT... Joseph warned the Pharaoh (interpretation of his dream) of an impending famine and was able to prepare storehouses. Likewise we are warned, we can heed the warning or ignore it. I think we had better start memorizing scripture so that no one can take it away from us =)
Whenever we are presented with the word of God from a pastor, friend or whoever we are called to test it against the scriptures. Don't ever take anyone's two cents, but rather research it yourself from the very source that we are given.

yes. i was just reading the bible code by michael something (on bargain!) and he managed to enter the original bible text and come up with a computer program to look for hidden words that would tell us about things to come. He predicted:
World War III happening in 2006. and it was written in 1997. It also talks about the apocolypse, armageddon, and a great earthquake coming in 2010 in Los Angeles.
Just remember that Jesus is Coming to save us that believe.
