do you have seat belts for the seats or are you thinking of going and putting in a piece of rope ?
well you should be able to find a bolthole to instal the seatbelts if not you can drill the floor and run a large diameter bolt with a washer and lock nut on it to hold them down dont know the actually safety of this but in my 76 jeep the floorpans were replaced by the previous owner and thats what they did

First off you need to acquire the seat belts if you haven't do so already. For my wife's 66 mustang I order a set from Year One. Then I used a pair of grade 8 bolts trough holes drilled into the floor plan. Make sure to use some sort of reinforcements. Before I could have an extra plate put around the bolt hole I used some large fender washers. You want something to distribute the force if you get into an impact. A bolt on its own will rip trough the floor pan if you get into an accident.

seat belts in a mustang that old are strait forward, there are two boltholes, one on each side of the seat simply find the correct bolts, make sure they are at least grade 8 or better. and bolt them in. if you don't have them look on e bay... most older models will fit that car. pretty sure all models up to 73 will work 74 won't P.S. rope won't work, if you get into a wreck it could cut you in half, might not be a bad idea for a redneck...
