I have an NIV study bible that has notes on this that say:
The third heaven designates a place beyond the immediate heaven of the earth's atmosphere and beyond the further heaven of outer space and its constellations into the presence of God himself. Thus the risen and glorified Lord is said to have passed "through the heavens" (Heb 4:14), and know having "ascended higher then all the heavens" (Eph 4:10), to be exalted above the heavens" (Heb 7:26). The term "paradise" is synonymous with the third heaven, where those believers who have died are even know "at home with the Lord"
I take it to mean the heaven above us being the sky is before the heavens of outer space and beyond and the third heaven is actually the real deal paradise. See ya' there.

Well, There are degrees, or glories in heaven and the ressurection. Paul says there is a glory of the sun the moon and the stars 1 Cor. 15:41 . The third heaven consists of those who recieve the glory of the sun or that of the presence of the Father.

There are Three Heavens.
The First: Atmosphere around the Earth.
The Second: Star System
The Third: Planet Heaven where The Father has HIS Throne for Right Now. (the Third Heaven)
Planet Earth is a Spin-Off of Planet Heaven.

He was talking about being in a vision that moved him to the heaven where God's home is and then back. This could be done by stopping human time and while it is stopped taking Paul away and then returning him and starting time back up so the people around Paul on the earth would never know he left and would not know time was stopped and restarted.

Paul actually said he was 'caught up' into the third and heaven and it was not 'lawful' for him to describe the things he saw and experienced there. He never mentions 'knowing someone there'. The Bible says that we will be rewarded for the things we do here on Earth that Glorify God. Obviously not every one is going to make the same contribution to the Kingdom and I believe there will different rewards depending on how faithful to God one has been. Perhaps levels of heaven would be part of that reward system--the Bible doesn't really say.

right it is what i think/been taught Many mansions -- in basic terms telling them that all of them have a place - if he had reported a million mansion, then perhaps his disciples might have concept.. "Oh great! in basic terms a million man or woman gets to flow to heaven." So with the help of asserting many masions.. we get re-certain that many human beings get to flow there... we additionally get re-certain that Heaven is a great place. 2) there are no longer 3 heavens or 3 tiers even.. yet it is how Writers of his time, or perhaps later defined diverse areas of the particular international... as heavens. The heavens above (or 2d heavens) have been the sky. third heaven replaced into the two area or the place God easily exists, some thing outdoors of the sky. I did somewhat googling to back this up.. and located quite a few sites which indicated it is how human beings wrote back then.

I hope I don't bore you but this is what I believe he is talking about:\Paul is sure of this remarkable experience, but he is unsure whether this rapture (being 'caught up" was one that included the body or one that took place in separation from the body. This third heaven designates a place beyond the immediate heaven of the earth's atmosphere and beyond the further heaven of outer space and its constellations into the presence of God himself. The nature of the inexpressible things that Paul heard remains unknown to us because this is an experience that must have given incalculable
strength to his apostleship, which involved him in such constant and extreme suffering. Moreover, as this experience was not self-induced, it afforded him no room for self-glorification
