Why are muslims, in general, extremely religious compared to people of other religions worldwide?

In all my life, I've never met a group that was as pious as the Muslims. I've heard other's say "god bless you", but not much else. It also seems Muslims are worried about losing their faith. I was having a religious debate with a muslim once, and he was adamant that when Jesus comes back to earth, Christians will go on a 'crusade' to take over the middle east and oppress muslims....or something along those lines. I've been to India, and there were no Hindus or anything that were so involved with religion. Most people there were like Americans, who aren't extremely religious on the whole.

I'm not saying that no one else is religious, I'm just saying that on the whole, Muslims seem a lot more religous. I mean, there's a muslim leader (ahmadinejad) that believes the Holocaust is a myth that is placed above "God, religions and the prophets" and wants to wipe Israel off the map.

This means that every aspect of the individual’s daily existence is guided by Islam: his family relations, his business relations, his education, his health, the means and manner by which he gains his livelihood, his philanthropy, what he sees and hears around him, what he reads, the way he regulates his time, the buildings in which he lives, learns and earns.

Perhaps that's why you think Muslims are generally more religious.

First of all, I think Americans are pretty religious. Look at what is going on politically today--people fighting for creationism in schools, saying that we should ban gay marriage because the Bible tells us to, that God let 9/11 happen because of our moral decay. Most of us believe God made the world. If Muslims do appear more pious than other religions, I think it is because they perceive their religion is under attack by other groups who believe Islam is harmful and that a good Muslim is hard to find. The extremely religious Muslims--usually ultraconservatives who advocate a lifestyle revolving around the Koran that clashes with Western ways--are the ones getting all the press. I've known some very laid-back Muslims who are as secular as anyone I've met. You'll meet some crazy Muslims, but you'll meet some crazy Christians too.

Islam is the newest of the popular world religions. As it was established in 660 AD or thereabouts, the clearest corollary is how Christianity was at the same point in its history. In the 1330s, there was still no Protestant Reformation, and the Dark Ages were in full swing. Even the most illiterate peasants were devoutly Christian throughout Europe. I figure Islam will be more laid back in another 700 or so years if it follows the same trajectory.

This is just your near sited vision. I have met many Hindus who are very religious. I Know the Krishna Consciousness practice from4:00in the morning to 9:00 their practice and again in the evening with 2 and a half hours of meditation. It just really depends on who you associated with in every religion there are the very devout and the very basic believers

Do you really believe that? What about the fundamentalist Mormons? The Amish are more religious than most others and yet don't go around preaching to others...they just live it.
Many other religions are on a crusade as much as the Muslim are. They all think theirs is the one and only.

Apparently you don't really know Americans. Americans are very religious. Muslims don't seem to be religious at all really. Religion is not about killing everyone who is a different religion. In fact religion is not about killing anyone at all. The Muslims who kill will spend eternity in hell. It is just too bad they are too stupid to know they are being used by Clerics and radicals. If Clerics and the radical Muslim leaders believed in what they have induced their followers to believe they would be the first to die. As far as Christians going on a crusade, forget it. Christians are civilized people, they don't do things like that.

+ I think that you premise your thoughts on a misconception. Try looking at on line church attendance and the number of evangelistic TV either late night or Sundays. Let alone the radio churches. Some Muslims are extremely outspoken so they may seem more into their religion. some of their activities like blowing up buildings do get a lot of attention.
