So what would you do, I have tried to put a cool wet wipe on him and he can not even sit on his bum. It is 3.50 am so I can not ring a vet.
He has tried walking across the floor on his bum as if to scratch it.
This is not a joke.
Do I bath him as he hates water.

This question was not a joke and who ever thought I put flea killer up his bum is mad, you place a few drops on parted hair on the back of his neck. Any way I did ring the vet who said as long as he was not shaking or foaming at the mouth, see what he would be like in the morning.
Which is what I did and he was fine, no scooting along on his bum or anything, he is back to his normal happy self.

Fuc king hell...
This website is fan bloody tastic, I now believe I have entered the twilight zone.
I don't know what is more bizarre, the fact that someone is on a question and answer website at 4am in the morning asking questions about there cats a rsehole or the fact that some of you are actually answering the question seriously.
Come on seriously did anyone ever log onto the world wide web with the intention of dishing out armature vet advice.
I mean I don't wish your cat any malice and I suppose it could be upsetting but have you tried sticking an ice-cube up it's a rse.

If you used a flea product made for cats it should not cause a problem, when cats (and dogs) scoot across the floor on their butts, it is not usually parasites as many people think, but more often it is impacted anal glands. Take the cat to the vet, they will be able to express the anal glands for you and they can also prescribe an antibiotic if there is infection in the glands as well. please try to take him tomorrow as anal gland impaction is very uncomfortable. Vets express the glands internally, but many will show owners how to express the glands from the outside so if you notice your cat having this problem in the night or weekend you will be able to give it relief until you can go to the vet. most groomers will also express anal glands externally, so since tomorrow is sunday, you might try to find one who can do that for you. Good luck!

First, you don't use a wet-wipe on him. It has chemicals in it. Second, wrap him firmly in a towel like a sausage. Leave his bum open to the air. With a warm soapy wash cloth, wipe his bum. The towel will immobilize him and protect you.
Ideally, you'll call a local all night vet clinic -- most areas have them. If you choose not to do this, please take the cat to the vet in the morning.
Good luck

What kind of flea prevention did you use. It could be his anal glands, and they would be bothering him bc they are full. Most towns have an emergency vets office...
