It depends on your beliefs and what kind of person you are. If you have the inability to think for yourself you will say that you will go heaven and anyone not a christian will go to hell. If you except philosophy and that things may not be how you see them, you could say anything will happen.

Do we have souls? Let the Bible answer that question.
“Then Jehovah God proceeded to form the man out of dust from the ground and to blow into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man came to be a living soul.” (Gen. 2:7) You could also look up and read Genesis 1:20, 21, 24, 30; 2:19. If you'll notice, the scripture stated that "the man came to be a *living soul*." Our life is like the flame of a candle, once it goes out, it doesn't go anywhere. It is simply gone.
Ecclesiastes 9:5,10 - "5 For the living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all, neither do they anymore have wages, because the remembrance of them has been forgotten. 10 All that your hand finds to do, do with your very power, for there is no work nor devising nor knowledge nor wisdom in She´ol, the place to which you are going."
As for your second question, I'm not an athiest, so I can't answer that.
Third question, "were we really born just to die?"
No we weren't. Again, let the Bible answer your question.
Isaiah 45:18 - "18 For this is what Jehovah has said, the Creator of the heavens, He the [true] God, the Former of the earth and the Maker of it, He the One who firmly established it, who did not create it simply for nothing, who formed it even to be inhabited: “I am Jehovah, and there is no one else. "
God told Adam and Eve to "fill the earth and subdue it." That was His main purpose...to have an earth filled with happy, healthy people, serving Him. Has His purpose changed? No. Psalms 37:11,29 - "11 But the meek ones themselves will possess the earth, And they will indeed find their exquisite delight in the abundance of peace. 29 The righteous themselves will possess the earth, And they will reside forever upon it." Also, look up Revelation 21:3,4. Take a look at the link I have provided. It explains some common myths about death. Everything is supported with scriptures. I encourage you to look up the scriptures as you come to them, that way you can see for yourself what the Bible really teaches. Hope I've helped. we were not born just to die, a few things happen along the way. Do we have souls? - well i think so, the people i know, friends and family, are more than just blood and bone; even animals,if you have ever had a pet you must have felt something more to it than merely the physical. let's hope there is a heaven and all the answers you can't get resolved on yahoo answers are answered there.

Well I know that I will be ridiculed for this answer BUT I DON'T CARE!!! Yes all humans have souls, animals DON'T. An athiest would just say when you die thats the end. We were NOT born just to die, we were born for a purpose!!! The Bible says that when you die you will stand before God and if you have trusted in Christ alone as your Savior you shall be saved (you WILL get to heaven). If you haven't you will be condemned by God to eternal hell.
One final quote: "Hell is too hot...and....eternity is too long"
Hope this helps

What happens when we die? The Bible says
Hebrews 9:27
And inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgment,
1 Cor. 3:11-17
For no man can lay a foundation other than the one which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. [12] Now if any man builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, [13] each man's work will become evident; for the day will show it because it is to be revealed with fire, and the fire itself will test the quality of each man's work. [14] If any man's work which he has built on it remains, he will receive a reward. [15] If any man's work is burned up, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire.
[16] Do you not know that you are a temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? [17] If any man destroys the temple of God, God will destroy him, for the temple of God is holy, and that is what you are.
Athiests would tell you that there is no God, so no Heaven or Hell, so there is no sin either, do as you please. They might accept evolution, but they may not have thought out the consequences of that. Evolution depends on survival of the fittest. The strong survive, so if I am stronger that you, I can take what is yours as long as I am strong enough to get it. What's mine is mine, and what's yours is mine, if I can take it from you. Under Darwin, there is no sin, and there is no crime either, just the so called laws of society; but even those are geared for the strong to take from the weak.
Now, what if we never died? Not stay young, but never die. Can you imagine growing old and older with all the problems and disabilities that come with age, but never being able to die? Hell would be welcome rather than becoming a jelly-fish of quivering pain, grief and memories, and never being capable dying! Death is God's mercy to bring our pain and suffering to a close; our sins pile up on us higher and higher, until we either repent and are forgiven, or die in our sins.

You are the soul your body is just matter. The proof of the existance of the soul is the life within the body. Anything that is living ei; plant, fish, animal, bug, person, if it is alive that means the soul is in the body and when it dies the soul leaves the body and goes to its next destination according to its Karma (reaction to activities) and desire. The soul (thats you )never dies you have always existed and always will. What ever spiritual advancement one makes they take it with them to the next. actually that is the only thing you take with you besides your karma. go to www.stephen-knapp.com for more universal truths

I believe we have souls that live on after death. Atheists think we just die (like sleeping without waking up) because they have no other explanation. God bless, Val

Great Question ! ok so in my opinion ... at death we go to heaven if we are "saved " (meaning putting our faith in jesus to be the payment for our sins and asking forgiveness ) if we are not "saved" we go to hell . And no we arent born just to die ...we were born because in the beginning God wanted to create a being with free choice to love him and have a relationship him . So now its still our choice and he lets us chose what we want to believe , do and say while still giving us lots of chances to come back to him (then spend eternity with him if we do). It always means more when someone does something for you because they love you instead of it being because they have to... right ?
