I have no knowledge about this family name. It could be German or Jewish

It is Czech. You can check name origins on genealogy sites.

You can see the citiation below. That doesn't mean it is not the name of a Jewish family. Before the holocaust, 95% of Jews were of Eastern European origin, even after the holocaust 80% are of Eastern European origin.

It sounds German to me. No reason why it can't be Jewish, too, though.

"Jewish" refers to a religion.

"German" is a nationality.

I suspect it is German.
