If anything, it's buddhist. It was written down in Buddhist writings 500 years before Christ. It is: "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."

Mathew is the book you will find it in. I encourage you to study it well for it will ad life unto you. For all of God's word is life and there is no life without it. The Bible says study to show yourself approved a workman that needed not to be ashamed rightly dividing the word of truth. Jesus said , I am the way the truth and the LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
An atheist is nothing more than an unbeliever. We know that unbelievers shall all have their part in the lake of fire
where the worm (or man) dieth not and the fire is not quenched
Pretty serious wouldn't you say. Can't hardly afford to get that wrong huh?

No other ethical pricipal seems to pervade the philosophies and religions of the world. It comes in two forms:
a. Do not do to others what you would prefer not done to yourself.
b. Do to other as you would want others to do to you.
Because it reaches across the religions and philosophies, I believe it is both religious and atheist. It requires no god to validate its logical sense, but it has been easily adopted and promoted by those who believe in God. In truth, it seems a basic human value.

Actually, Buddah didn't say it exactly like Christ did.
Buddah said something to the effect of don't do to others what you don't want them to do to you.
Christ said do unto others what you would have them do to you.
Very similar concepts, yet...very different too.
I believe it is a moral concept.

The ethic of reciprocity or "The Golden Rule" is a fundamental moral principle found in virtually all major religions and cultures, which simply means "treat others as you would like to be treated." Its universality suggests an innate human altruism and is arguably the most essential basis for the modern concept of human rights.

The ethic of reciprocity or "The Golden Rule" is a fundamental moral principle found in virtually all major religions and cultures, which simply means "treat others as you would like to be treated." Its universality suggests an innate human altruism and is arguably the most essential basis for the modern concept of human rights. Principal philosophers and religious figures have stated it in different ways:
"Love your neighbor as yourself." — Moses (ca. 1525-1405 BCE) in the Torah, Leviticus 19:18
"What you do not wish upon yourself, extend not to others." — Confucius (ca. 551–479 BCE)
"What is hateful to you, do not to your fellow man." — Hillel (ca. 50 BCE-10 CE)
"Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." — Jesus (ca. 5 BCE—33 CE) in the Gospels, Luke 6:31; Luke 10:27 (affirming of Moses)— Matthew 7:12
"Hurt no one so that no one may hurt you." — Muhammad (c. 571 – 632 CE) in The Farewell Sermon.
