I say that compulsive eaters could very well be hoarders. And Hoarders could be compulsive eaters, but you would not have to be a compulsive eater to be a hoarder, some hoarders don't just hoard food.
My family is very into hoarding. We think it is a sign of prosperity to have enough food for five years in our homes. If you go and visit some of the older, and therefore more prosperous members of my family, they will take you through the house showing you all of their stores. It is usually pretty interesting...they remember what they paid for everything. Some times, they have really cool stuff, like my Aunt and Uncle who had all this ice cream sent in from a New York Deli, and bought it its own little deep freeze! Is that about filling up empty spaces? Is it good management or just showing off? I vote good management.
