I was not happy with proactive myself. The chemical smell was very strong. It actually burned skin off my nose.
I do have friends that have liked it. I think it all depends on each person's skin, etc. Mine is sensitive.
I have since used Arbonne's acne line, Clear Advantage, and have been very happy with the results.
Arbonne Clear Advantage Acne Wash- Soothing, oil-free, deep pore cleanser unclogs pores and cleanses away dirt. Medicated with acne-fighting, prescription quality salicylic acid. Active ingredients are deposited directly into the pore, helping to clear blemishes and prevent new ones from forming.
Arbonne Clear Advantage Refining Toner- Alcohol-free, oil free toner helps balance and calm skin while removing excess oils. Enhanced with alpha hydroxy acids to gently and effectively remove dead skin cells. Skin is left clean, soothes, hydrated and refreshed.
Arbonne Clear Advantage Acne Lotion- Mild, oil free lotion with acne fighting salicylic acid penetrates pores to destroy blemishes causing bacteria, improving problem skin. Soothing and calming botanical agents help to heal and hydrate skin.
Arbonne Clear Advantage Skin Support- A uniquely developed dietary supplement to support the skin from the inside out. A combination of acne-fighting nutrients, such as vitamins, minerals and amino acids, plus botanicals used for centuries to improve skin conditons.

I used Proactiv for 2 years because I was desperate to cure my skin problems. It cleared SOME of my acne but not all of it. The worst part is that I have extremely oily skin and it just made my skin even more oily. So I didn't benefit from it, and I'm still in the process of searching for a good skin care product. I think it's different for everyone. For some people it might work but for others like me it won't. So if you want, go ahead and try it and see if it works for you and if it doesn't then search for something else. There are so many other products out there, you just can't limit yourself to one just because it's popular. You should do a little research of your own also. Sometimes the not so popular items will work the best. Hope you find something that suits you.......good luck and best wishes........

i've been using for a while now and i found out that if u do this the product works best, OK because this has worked so well for me I'm gonna tell u! so to clear up your acne first clean your face with hot water this opens your pores then use proactiv's renewing cleanser OK after that use more hot water to get rid of the cleanser and then use cold water this will close your pores so no more dirt or bacteria can get in there. finally use the revitalizing toner from proactiv but DON"T use the repairing lotion cause that makes your skin dry and that makes u get acne! well hope this helps! my face is completely clear oh and u will c results the next day!

Proactive contains Benzoyl Acid which is a grade three acne fighting ingredient and usually leaves the skin very dried out, dull and lifeless. Arbonne's Clear Advantage line uses Salicylic Acid which is a grade one acne fighting ingredient most companies don't use it because it is an expensive ingredient but it leaves skin radiant and bind to the dirt and removes it. Plus it comes with a supplement that fights acne from the inside out balancing hormones and oil production. It is amazing. You can buy it a wholesale if you have an Arbonne account. You want to make sure your products contain no mineral oil as mineral impedes the absorption of good ingredients in products and can cause you to break out. Arbonne's You can check it out at www.arbonne.com you can only order through a your own wholesale account. If you are interested in setting up an account let me know jamistansberry@hotmail.com

I used to use Proactive and as far as I know it works awesome. The only problem with it is that if you forget to use it, even for one night, you will instantly break out for the next 2 days. The only reason I stopped using it is because it got too expensive for me to keep buying it as my other expenses grew.

EXACLY! i used it for a year. when i started it worked great. the redness dissapeared, and my skin was becoming the way i wanted it to look. BUT, then it stopped having any effect whatsoever, and i cancelled it. so i say no to proactive. my advice is, go to a dermotologist. i did, and thats the best decision i made while tryin to get rid of acne. good luck!

It doesn't clean deep down where the bacteria is. It just exfoliates the dead skin off the surface, which is great, but you also need something to fight the bacteria. There are lots of great cleansers out there. Right now i'm using Clinique and I like it a lot.

I used it for a month. It dried out my skin and while it worked for the first two weeks, my skin soon became worse then it had been in a long time. I use the L'orial acne set for now. You know, continuing my eternal search for clearer skin.

i bpought it for my bf, just cause i know how much zits hurt and all. he used 2 kits up. so he used it for about 3 months followed the directions every day and everythign and it didnt work. also 3 of his cousin that i know tried it for abotu 2 months and it didnt work for them either. so i went to the dermatologist and asked them if proactive works for most people and he says it doesnt work =\
the medicine is only so popular cause they pay celebrities to say good stuff about it. who knows if it even works for the, you can digitally add zits and reomve them, edit the film and all with the technology we have these days.... they'll say anything to get you to buy a product. remember they're gettign paid to say all that crap.
but it may work for you but dont be disappointed if it doesnt...

It works, but you also need to drink alot of water. I've been using it for about 6 months and drinking lots of water and my skin really improved.
