That 'pimple' as you call it is most likely an abcess. Thats exactly what they look like. Basically, an abcess is a 'pus pocket'. Is your tooth or jaw in that area ache or hurt?

As for treatment for an abcess... depends, if the doctor thinks it is able to be saved or not. In some cases, if it can be saved, the doc will put you on antibotics for 7-10 days to clear up the infection. After that, he'll get you in to do a Root Canal. *Some will do it on the spot when they find it. Most like to have you on antibotics for some time, due to when patients have abcesses going on, its sometimes difficult to numb the person. Either way.. it will need a Root Canal Treatment in order to save it. And then a crown placed on top if its a back tooth. If the doctor cant do the RCT he'll send you to a 'Endodontist' specialist to do the treatment.
As for the other treatment... if it cant be saved, they'll take the tooth out, if your able to get numbed. Otherwise, they'll wait until the infection is gone and then take it out. Either way antibotics will be given for the infection.

*Some doctors will give you pain meds as well. Some doctors dont only because, the reason your in pain is because of the infection. Antibotics will take care of that pain, once the infection is handled and gone. People seem to want pain meds all the time for things, when there not needed. Ibuprofen, over the counter will work just as good. Get the infection taken care of and the pain will be solved.

It is most likely an abcess. If infection is present IE a cavity left untreated or trauma to the tooth leading to root damage. Go see a dentist asap it can become quite a problemif untreated. Lagre amounts of infection (pus) can cause you face to swell, pain and possible sinus tracts into your sinuses.

They are possible. Unless you are confusing it with a canker sore, which hurts A LOT.
