There is NO purpose to life other than what you make it by your own actions. We exist on this planet only through a coincidence and a favourable set of circumstances. No-one put us here, we evolved from basic life-forms over the last 4.5 billion years.
That should answer your question in the simplest way?

Ahh.. the question of the ages.. some turn to a "god" and some think we are but mere animals.
Here is my answer: The purpose of life is to live.
live. thats it. enjoy life... embrace it! take it all in... smell the flowers.. travel.. meet people.. love... even when there is pain.. embrace that as well.. pain lets you know you are still alive. Be confident.. use your talents... help others... take some chances..
but above all
live.

Doing God's will.
Follow His commandments.
You can't do it?
Neither can I.
We need a savior.
Jesus is our savior.
He is now our purpose. Tell the good news of Jesus Christ and him crucified for all.

wow, this is a deep question. Meaning of life (scratches my head)
well lets see its not chocolate however that would be a good close
