Have any of you taken the time to actually sit back a read any of the true scriptures of the Quran? Not the fake propagandist lies. Have any of you even gone to a Mosque to see what the Imams actually preach to us? Have you spoken to a Muslim and asked how they feel about the Psycho Extremists?

No I haven't, but you bring up a good point. Everyone should not judge the whole population, on what a few extremists do. No matter the religion, race or beliefs, If everyone, everywhere around the world, would allow beliefs to be choices, and not expect someone to believe as they do, we all would be better off. FREEDOM OF RELIGION, FREEDOM OF SPEECH, FREEDOM OF CHOICE. That should be foremost in any government.

Yes, I've been to a mosque, taken there by a Muslim woman and her daughter. It was touching, I enjoyed the talk very much. I was given the Quran (because I showed an interest, and asked some questions), and have read some of it - I've started at the beginning and will go straight through.
The few Muslums I've met were kind, humble, thoughtful and conscientious. Had my friend not moved, we'd still be associating, I'm sure.
People are missing something good by pre-judging every Muslim; that's a gravely foolish thing to do.

Actions speak louder than words, be they from the mouth of an Imam or the pages of the Quran. I know there are plenty of decent Muslims, but the sad fact is that Non-Muslims are tired of terrorist extremists, Muslims who go nuts at the drop of a hat, Muslims who claim harrassment at the slightest provocation, etc. Infidels will take the time to understand Muslims when Muslims take the time to get a grip on their own extremist 'worshipers', stop freaking out en masse every time someone 'insults' their religion, and start respecting other people.

I have surmised through the last few years that it is difficult to find covering of mainstream Muslims on the broadcast media. I am an atheist and have no interest in pursuing religion, but I do have an interest in accuracy in reporting.
It is extremely important that Islam in the USA find a way to put forward two clear messages to the whole nation: (1) Muslims that advocate violence are not welcome in the mosques and Muslim organizations, and (2) Muslims provide positive role models for good citizenship and positive social change.
I will tell you, in addition, the statements of the more radical imams do not help, and vociferous efforts to discredit them will win a lot of points from the general public. I'm gay and when I hear the chief imam in Manchester, UK advocating capital punishment for homosexuals, or other Muslim leaders advocating for jailing homosexuals, I must put up my guard to survive. However, my original statement stands: I don't believe the media is covering the full story, and our perspective is correspondingly skewed.

I am a non-Muslim, I am a Christian.
Yes, I have read some of the Quran. I think most of the people who follow the teachings of Muhammed are good people, and I have always believed that most Muslims feel ashamed of the Al Kaida (sp?) as we are of the Jim Jones's or the David Koresh's.
We should all realize that each individual has the God-given right of free will regarding faith. God never forces, and we shouldn't either.
Let's make a deal with each other. I won't believe everything I hear on the news if you won't.

i have not read the quran yet, though i have purchased a copy. i shall read it when the time feels right.
as far as mosques, there are none where i live, so i have not had that opportunity.
i think your question comes from a centre of frustration regarding public view of muslims, in general.
i would like to say that not everyone thinks all muslims are extremists. some of us have enough sense to realize the difference between one group and another.. that all people have the right to live, and deep down, that's all they really want.
cheer up. :)

I have worked with some Moslrms and they were no different than other people. No I have not read their book, only small parts of it. What is going on at this time in the west is a huge propaganda effort to hide the war for Oil under the cover of a religious conflict.

I don't think that it's necessary to read the Quran or go to a Mosque to understand that Muslims are not all terrorists. However, there is a lot of stereotyping and racism going around, so maybe some people should complete all three.

Yes I have. I was recently in the Middle East (Dubai) and visited a few mosques. I also know a fair bit about the religion. Not all non-muslims are stereotyping. We need to quit this now, and start being more understanding to one another. We all need to stop making assumptions.
