Picasso might have had friends who were Socialist but he was certainly never a Communist or Socialist (he loved money too much) himself and he equally disliked the Fascists (Hitler, Mussolini and Franco) and, in fact, sided with the Loyalists in their fight against Franco in Spain. After Franco took power in Spain Picasso then moved to France, a country still democratic at the time.
