It doesn't stop with a sneeze.
Please note:
Myth: Your heart stops for an instant whenever you sneeze.
Reality: When a person sneezes, they increase their intrathoracic [chest] pressure and can decrease venous blood flow back to the heart, according to Dr. Chris Danner of UAMS’ Department of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery. "The heart may compensate for this by a slight change in its beating rate, but the heart and its electrical activity should not stop during a sneeze," says Dr. Danner.
My comment: I have worked with heart patients for years . . . your heart doesn't really even pause with a sneeze. If it stopped beating, people would pass out and need revived.

It's an urban legend, The heart dosen't stop. There is a lot of pressure involved in the chest so maybey occasionally the rythm may be affected but really no the heart is electrically unaffected by a sneeze.

The reason why anyone sneezes is because your nasal system is irritated by dust, onions, Etc. It can also be a head cold or virus. Your nasal system is irritated your heart stop does not stop when you sneeze.

i would guess that a sneeze is a relatively huge shock to your system, and your heart valves probably close (all open?) when it happens.. i'm not sure?
i cant imagine it stops completely.. probably just PAUSES or something.
excellent question! is there a med student around???
