A parent's job is to honestly do the best they can to educate their child and teach them right from wrong. But there comes a time in every body's life when they have to take responsibility for their own actions. If a child has been taught not to do something but does it anyway it is not the fault of the person who taught him. Children have minds of their own. Some show at a very young age that they will do things their way and be willing to suffer the consequences. It's a sad event for a parent to see a son or daughter realize what those consequences are when it's too late.

I would think the failure is the parent that doesn't even try to teach. At least if the parent is trying they can honestly say they used up all options. Besides some people like to march to the beat of there own drummer ESPECIALLY kids.

Depends on how old of a kid you are talking about? My son is 14. He was 12 when he got locked up. Although I tried to teach him right from wrong, it is still my fault for not doing more. When they reach a certain maturity, not necessarily a certain age, then they are responsible for their own actions. My son hadn't reached that maturity level and I should have kept him from making the choice he made, although, I didn't know he was doing it. You can bet your bottom dollar my other three are watched like hawks! Only you know if your kid knew better.

If the parent puts some effort it most likely isn't the parents fault I think no matter how the parents bring up there kids they are going to do what they want any way no one can control that.

No, its never is the parents fault if they did preached for years the difference between right and wrong. If the parents, for example, say don't do drugs and the child still does, the child had the chance to do the right thing, as they were taught, but still disobeyed, the child is the stupid one at fault.

No. The parent did everything in his/her power to teach them right from wrong. Everything past that is by the childs own choice and doing.
