Also, are members encouraged to marry strictly within the Scientology faith?

I was watching a special on Scientology, so I was just curious to hear from people with knowledge on their stance.

Thank you for sharing your viewpoints, Unclewayne. I think you may have been reading something into my question that wasn't there.

Here's a Wikipedia article on just that subject: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scientology_and_Homosexuality

Hubbard was homophobic to say the least.

In Science of Survival: Prediction of Human Behavior, Hubbard argues that homosexuals should be segregated from the rest of society and institutionalized to prevent their illness from spreading to the rest of the population.

In Page 89-90, he writes:

"Such people should be taken from the society as rapidly as possible and uniformly institutionalized; for here is the level of the contagion of immorality, and the destruction of ethics...No social order which desires to survive dares overlook its stratum 1.1's. No social order will survive which does not remove these people from its midst."

At the time of the writing of Science of Survival, Hubbard did offer his own auditing process that allegedly would cure homosexuals of their sickness as an alternative to concentration camps.

Hubbard later softened his stance on homosexuality in the late 1960's. The reason most of the major religions abhor homosexuality is purely because homosexuals cannot reproduce and therefore cannot provide more souls for that particular cult...oops sorry Religion. Religions survival is dependent on increasing its populations. Why do you think you are automatically born into Islam for example, and once you are a muslim you are unable to leave or convert to another religion. This way the muslim population just keeps growing. Of course there are muslims who have left the islamic faith, but they have to live the rest of their lives in secret for fear of death from apostasy. Such a loving religion isn't it?

1. Scientologist believe that man is an immortal spirit that has lived true thousands of life times. And that in some of this life times you could have been a female and in others a male. And this can get confusing. One of the goals of Scientology is to help a person figure out who he is. Scientologists don't condemn gays or homosexuality. But try to help everyone find their true identities whatever it might be. But unethical sexual behavior (multiple partners) is highly condemned.
Yes LRH believed that Homosexuality is an aberation and very low in the tone scale.
2. Is common for Scientologist to marry outside their faith. That's how Jenna Elfman got into Scientology. Her husband is a Scientologist.

Do I detect that you think the Bible forbids homosexuality? Well homosexuality is referenced 3 times in the Bible. Twice it is looked at as "no big deal"; just so normal that it was simply reported without comment. David the lad with a friend of his, and then David the young adult with king Saul.

The so called conservative protestants could only find one place that forbids Homosexuality --- or did it ?

Jesus: "Are you ready to review a scripture and explain it to me: hopefully, in such a way that we will have consistency in our ground rules."

God: "Lay it on me, boy".

Jesus spoke these Hebrew words:

"V’et zachar lo tishkav mishk’vey eeshah toeyvah hee."

(Leviticus 18:22)
Then Jesus said, "The Jews of present day Jerusalem use this verse to say that you have told them that homosexuality is a sin, and that you think it is disgusting."
God responded, "I told Moses, in Leviticus that:
A man should not have sex with another man, because it would cause disharmony in his marriage and toward his wife.
The (sexual) symbol of marriage was the lyings or bed of a woman.
Moses wrote (Leviticus 18:12):
V’et zachar lo tishkav mishk’vey eeshah toeyvah hee."
Which means
"And with a male you shall not lay [in the] lyings of a woman."
Which meant at the time, according to custom, "Two men must not engage in sexual behavior on a woman's bed".
Consequently, Moses passed on the gist of what I told him. Which is this: When a man spends sexual time with another man, instead of his wife, he is being disharmonious in his marriage and toward his wife.
Disharmony is and always has been a sin, Disharmony is not allowed through the gates of Planet Big H."- In a book called "God's Ancestors"

Most churches discourage homosexuality. Why? Churches and cults want their members to produce as many children as possible. Why? So the church empire can increase its size.

I would imagine that since they might be more into being naturalist that this would be unnatural. However, according to some sites their religion is cult based and monetarily based like a pyramid scheme.I suppose if you gave them a lot of money they would look the other way.

Well, on their official website , they list the 10 most important things with one being the most important to 10 being the least.

Number one is Self
Number 10 is God

So, it stands to reason that if you were a rich homosexual, you would fit right in. You would make self number one and of course in order to belong to this you would have to pay the monetary price to achieve this standing with them.

I'm not sure about the gay thing, but I think you're supposed to get married by Scientologist priests from outer space, but only on the double full moon.
