Boy there's a lot of confusion - even from Christians.
Eve did not eat an apple, she ate from the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
Part of God's punishment for Eve's disobedience was that the pain of childbirth would be 'greatly increased'. Why do you think it is that all other animals give birth (unless there is some problem) with very little pain?
'The Fall' is the disobedience of Adam and Eve in eating the fruit - nothing whatsoever to do with sex. God created Adam and Eve as sexual beings. If they hadn't fallen then Eve would have had easy childbirth. All people on earth are descended from Adam and Eve - we inherit the fallen nature, and thus childbirth is painfull for all women .

Just a couple of things;
Fruit old english, transformed when the normans landed into apple, hence the idea that it was an apple.

As for eve and sin, what century are we living in? Oh yeah its the dark ages. Look the christian fiath like so many of the major religons have at their core on the subjecation of women. Now one way to do that is to tell them that sin is all their fault. You naughty naughty women. Grow up.

It hurts becuase it does, if it wasn't eve, it would have been pandora, it would have been Jezabel. Put down that book and try to understand that you are beautiful creature greated by God and you do not need a bunch of imbecils to tell you the word of the lord. NO holy book is the word of the Lord as they where all written my Men get it! HUMANS not GOD. Is it coming clear.

What did the animals do to deserve pain? I have witnessed many births of puppies, horses, cows, etc. and they all felt pain and were at least a bit frightened and they didn't go against some gods' order. Yes, there would be pain. Why do people honour a god that punishes many for the wrongs of a few? That doesn't sound too loving to me. You are guilty and slammed before you are even born. According to the bible I can't even get near that god because my mom was born on the wrong side of the sheets, like that was her fault or any of her descendants. I don't get it.

of course it would,lol...this is just another see through story made up by Christians to get people to see the error of their pagan ways...in older faith than Christianity and apple was symbolic of fertility and abundance and was deemed a magical fruit because when you cut an apple across, the inside is a perfect 5 point star...this is also where the seeds are hidden...a snake was symbolic of change fertility and rebirth so nfrom there you can see that this was just another story designed to frighten people away from their old faith and into the arms of Christianity...free choice wasn't a big option then and brainwashing was easier too...so yeah it would still have been painful...god didnt punish women for eating fruit???!!! ...if you believe that you'll believe anything,lol...;0)

According to Genesis 3:6 the pain experienced in childbirth was increased. Doesn't say what it was like before but now it's worse.

No...childbirth would have not been really painful...remember God told Eve because of her disobedience he would increase her pain.
read Genesis 3:16. We don't know the fruit was an apple...it just says fruit.

when they are thrown from the garden for their sin God said the pain of child birth would increase. so we can only trust the bible that it didn't before.
the question is though, if they hadn't sinned, would humans have lived forever on earth or in heaven?
the answer is earth, and that is what is promised for humans if they follow Gods word. not an eternity drifting about on clouds playing harps as many would have us believe, but living forever on earth as we were intended to in the first place

Child birth would not exist! Adam and Eve were meant to live a perfect life indefinitely in the garden of Eden. They didn't know sex until they ate the forbidden fruit.

They were naked but were not ashamed; but after they were aware that they were naked and they covered themselves with fig leaves!

God had to change His plan for them. So Adam and Eve were expelled from the Garden of Eden in order to KEEP THEM AWAY from the “tree of live” which could have sustained their life (and that of now possible offsprings) indefinitely - Gen. 3:22-24.

They were now condemned to live their life in the outside world and procreate like the “creatures” (Neanderthals & Co.) created before them, including painful birth. (Gen. 3:16) They now also were destined to die like them.

I’m not sure from the text if the “original sin” was engaging in sex or disobeying God’s command which resulted in mortality and the need of procreation. But either way we, the descendents have to live with it.

yes pushing something the size of a watermellon out of a lemon will physically hurt. its part of being a physical being. Just like it hurts when someone falls off a bike.
