Start off slow to avoid those headaches, I mixed half regular coffee with half decaf. coffee gradually reducing the amount of regular coffee, it took a couple of weeks, but i avoided those headaches. I now prefer the taste of the decaf. One word of caution, I had not had anything with caffeine in it for about a month and drank a glass of tea. I got the shakes like you wouldn't believe. Convinced me caffeine has more of an affect on our bodies than we think. Good luck!

You just need to stop cold turkey. To ward off the headaches take Motrin or asprin before the headache starts. That's key. The headache only lasts for about two or three days. Most people can take Motrin or asprin for that long without damaging your system.

Try to do it gradually. Caffiene is a drug in your body. Those headaches are your blood vessels in your head being more open because caffiene constricts them. Take some motrin/ibuprofen. Continue to drink water. Good luck! Just remember, one cup at a time!

There is this tea called "mugicha" or barley tea that is popular in Japan. It tastes like coffee, without the damaging effects. I think that might help, and also find a healthy addiction to put in its place. Chewing gum, excersise, etc.
