1: The Kin of Ata are Waiting for You by, Dorothy Bryant.
2: From India to the Planet Mars, byTheodore Flournoy
3: That Hideous Strength, By C.S. Lewis
4: The Deep Hot Biosphere: The Myth of Fossil Fuels, by Thomas Gold.
5: Rainbow Mars, by Larry Niven.
Pretty much any one of these would allow for a more logical and trustworthy society, although some of them take a bit more mashing around to work out the details. Whether any of them are perfectly suited to be called "Fiction" is arguable in some cases...

1.John Steinbeck The East of Eden
2.Albert Camus The Stranger
3.Franz Kafka The Trial
4.Truman Capote 'with cold blood'
5.Remarque ..nothing new on a western front.
(first of all, The Holy Scripture ).
I clearly do not remember, which of the Steinbeck's novel ends with a women breast feeding an old starving men.If it is The grapes of wrath.then I rate this book number one.followed by The
Bible. In addition I can give you some other insight of my choice,
How you should care for entire language by the meaning of one single word.(the sages of Israel)
"It is just as much a matter of chance that I am still alive as that I might have been hit. In a bomb-proof dug-out I may be smashed to atoms and in the open may survive ten hour's bombardment unscratched. No soldier outlives a thousand chances. But every soldier believes in Chance and trusts his luck." (from All Quiet on the Western Front)

I love fiction novels, but the ones I read, would not be something to base my life on thanks. I am an avid Stephen King fan and aslo
Erma Bombeck to lighten things up. But to base my daily life on them nope.

Hmm. Can't think of one for me, but I know the Bible-thumpers would do just as well with 'Don Quixote' as they do with their Bible. Always tilting at windmills, they are....
