Maybe you should take a little closer look at your daughter's behaviour. Just a thought.

The one thing missing from this question is why did the Police Chief tell your daughter to stay away from his son.

Unprofessional, certainly. Illegal... Are there laws forbidding the presence of outsiders in the room while people are giving statements? Unless you know for a fact this comes under federal regulations (I assume you're from the USA), contacting an expert about the rules applying locally would be better than here. Now, is that police chief elected? chosen by an official? By all means raise the matter with whom it may concern. Unprofessional conduct is certainly grounds not to get reelected, and possibly for early job termination if the post is not elective.

Depends on how far you feel about pushing it,

I ended up having to call the county sheriff officers to my home some years ago, Had about the exact same situation, a boy we were letting stay with our family was dating the police chiefs daughter, but she was blackand she was white, they make up fake charges against the boy, we would not let the police enter our home and would turn him over over to the courty sheriff.

But it still took attorneys and alot of legal work to get him out of it

Please find out all the information. The chief may have been mislead about your daughter. Maybe you don't want your daughter to have anything to do with the asst. cops son. There is something still in the dark that maybe needs light reflected upon it. Do not play around with small town law enforcers, they are usually corrupt. Sounds like a bad movie. If you must, tell it to the public, but know if they are working for him. If I were you i would back off, or move away.
God bless us all...

If he uses his position then you can file a grievance with his boss. However if your daughter IS doing something inappropriate or something the father doesn't want done he's within his right as a parent to bar your child from seeing his son.

Now if he says something alone the lines of "Don't talk to my son at school or I'll have you arrested" or makes any threats using his position in anyway...file a complaint.

Report it to the Sheriff's Office (who is usually the Chief Law Enforcement officer of the country), or the State Attorney General. You can also go the FBI route if you believe the Chief has violated your civil rights.

You can also report it to the city manager or city council, but don't expect too much to occur.

Yup, get yourself an expensive lawyer and move this moron out of office. Your community will be better off for it! Notify the local newspaper as well, presuming that your daughter is 110% clean.

If he has a valid reason for wanting her to stay away, you will lose!

Choose carefully!

Sounds like there are issues there. Are you in a small town? If so your resources may be limited. In a bigger city you can check with county or state agencies for help with threats.

Well, last I checked, coercion is illegal. So I would speak to the police chief and inform him of that. Or better yet, I would get my lawyer to speak to him. I think a judge would be very interested in that information.
