Hi there...I'm not certain if you are asking about the quality of purina, the feeding requirements, etc.

Here's an article about the truth about commercial pet foods: http://www.preciouspets.org/truth.htm

Purina is crap.

Any of the low-end brands you can buy in a supermarket are not good for your dog: Purina, Alpo, Iams, Pedigree, Beneful, etc. You want to go to a pet store and look for high end foods- if meat products make up 2 of the first 3 ingredients, it's a good start. Try to look for foods with little or no corn, wheat, gluten, or other fillers. Large amounts of meal are also a bad sign, you want real chicken or beef, not just chicken meal.

Here are some good brands to look for:
Blue Buffalo
Nature's Recipe
Nutro / Nutro Max

Royal Canin and Eukanuba are okay, but not great.

Did you do a full on swtich, like going from the puppies eating 100% Eukanuba to 100% Beneful? Because if that was the case, the puppies may not have liked the Beneful and were not eating it. If you are changing foods, I would recommend going 75% Eukanuba and 25% Beneful. After they get used to that, go to 50% of each, then 25% Eukanuba and 75% Beneful and then 100% Beneful. I had to do that when I bought a new puppy. It's not really a scientific answer, so I am sorry, but I hope that I helped you a little. Oh, and I have no idea about the lice, sorry.

I really need to add that Science Diet is every bit as bad as any Purina product and the most expensive at $2.40 per lb.

I can get Natural Balance for $1.66 per pound, Felidae at $2.10, Solid Gold at $1.50, Chicken Soup (too much grain for me and no corn) at $1.49. So paying the high price for SD does not guarantee a quality food. CA Natural is the same price as SD. If you really want food where everything is certified organic you can buy Newman's Own at $3.69 per lb.

Don't feed your cat Purina Cat Chow. I just had to have a cat put down cause of that food. There is way to much ash in it and it maked some cats sick. It's crap food.

As with any food you need to read the ingredients label which list in order the ingredients that are in highest quantity first. Mainly you want the first ingredient to be some type of protein source such as lamb, beef, chicken etc. Other brands that start with rice, corn etc. are of a lower quality. Feed your pets well and you will save a fortune in vet bills!

They make many different grades of food for many types of animals. Their cheaper food like dog chow and cat chow or friskies are not that great for pets. Even their formula one is not the best. Their proplan is their top of the line. ITs alot better than their other food, but is only okay as a premium food. THey use lots of fillers like corn in all of their foods.

don't get it, its cheap stuff. get your cat or dog science diet instead. its recommended by vets. really good for them. but, if youre wondering about purina cat litter, it works really well. especially tidy cats.

Don't feed it, to much corn and dyes, stop being cheap , you don't eat crap food do you? Go out and buy Nutro. Great food no corn.
