I am aslo low income. There is a programe thought local offices, that familey services could direct you to that will pay amount. Example, I had my electricity turned off winter before last, and they paid the old bill and some to reconnect. Contact your food stamp worker and tell them your problem. Expecially if you live in Kentucky.

Talk to your provider & see how they can work with you. They also have a balanced billing every month so you will only pay 125.00 - 150.00 per month for the full year. If you have a child under the age of 2 years they must put your heat back on (without payment) that is the law..... Good Luck

some churchs get free gas cards for low income famlies. also trty to check out the salvation army or red cross for help with gas gift cards
