It seems that my older daughter (16) often 'spanks' my younger son (12) on his bottom. It doesn't seem like it's out of anger, but rather just for fun or whenever she 'feels like it.'

Is this something to be concerned with? Does anybody have this in their family, or had it done to them/done it to anybody else?

she should be keeping her hands to herself! Your the mom, take control of the situation!

It may be nothing, but it seems inappropriate to me.

You are the parent, why are you allowing your 16 year old to spank your son? Just because she "feels like it" doesn't mean she should.

How does your son feel about it? Where's their father? I think I'd be concerned enough to put a stop to it in any event. I've never heard of it and none of our three kids ever tried it.

Good luck.

I often give my kids( 15 13 and 12) a playful swat on the behind. Sometimes to instigate a playful episode sometimes to just say hey guy I know you're there. If it is just a playful love tap, I wouldnt worry, also if your son isnt complaining then it is probably nothing to worry about.

Yes, do not allow it for either one's sake.

1) she is not the family disciplinarian and has no authority to do so.
2) He is at the age where he can be easily aroused and you do not want that going on between siblings.
3) It is the wrong kind of "game" to encourage. forbid it immediately.

My siblings and I used to pop each other's asses all the time. It's not sexual- we did it in the same way football players smack each other's butts after a good play- it's funny and it makes a loud noise and if you can catch them off guard it's funny to see them jump..

You should tell your daughter to knock it off. It's basically hitting, you let your kids hit eachother?
