It seems that my older daughter (16) often 'spanks' my younger son (12) on his bottom. It doesn't seem like it's out of anger, but rather just for fun or whenever she 'feels like it.'
Is this something to be concerned with? Does anybody have this in their family, or had it done to them/done it to anybody else?

Personally I don't know the reason she is doing it and unless she is making him cry, I would feel safe assuming she isn't doing it to be mean to him.
When I was in school (many years ago) I had a friend who had a very bad habit of "hitting" you. She wasn't doing it to be mean or to hurt you...it was just a very bad, annoying habit.
If I were you, I would tell her that it is appropriate to touch another person, particularly on their bottom. Ask her how she would feel if someone did it to her (namely her little brother) If she blows you off, why not try having your son "spank" her a time or two and see how she reacts to it. I'm sure she won't like it at all.
A way of maybe stopping it would be to tell her that your son is reaching puberty and it makes him uncomfortable having his sister "spank" his bottom. Tell her it embarrasses him.
If she doesn't stop, I GUARANTEE you that in another year, HE will put a stop to it...probably by knocking her on her a$$. If it comes to that...you can't blame him or punish him. She had it coming.

I understand wat ur sayin...ur not askin' if she has the right to spank him, but ur referrin' to possible..."sexual" reasons behind it, right?
Ur daughter is at that age that it's easy for her younger siblings to upset her rather quickly. If your son is 12, then I'm sure he knows EVERY POSSIBLE button that he can push to irritate her. However, I think that u may need 2 sit down and talk to ur daughter. Let her know that u rn't comfortable with that because it doesn't look right...it makes it seem like she's looking for a pleasurable feeling while hitting him on his behind. Tell her that girls only do that to their boyfriends...trust me, she'll get the hint, be grossed out, and will more than likely refrain from doing such a thing.

The more you let this happen the more "violent" mind you are letting your 16yo develop. If I were you I would tell her to stop and I would let her know that spanking is a mother's decision if she wants to do it. It does not matter how innocent that spanking is it is a sign of early violence. I would make that stop right now.

That is sick. Make your daughter understand that NO ONE is to hit another person even as a joke. It is unacceptable! Dont let her continue this sick behavior. It can easily change her from doing something silly to having a sick fetish later in life. So tell her no one hits anyone and punish her if she does it again. Explain that the discipline is left up to you not her.

i don't think it is anything to be really concerned about spanking on the bottom is how football couches congratulate players. It may also just be a form of affection, maybe you should just ask her why she does it.

im 15 and my sisters 10 and i dont "spank" my sister!
its not right... shes not the parent!
