Okay, so I'm 15, 5' 4" and I weight 230 pounds. I've tried the Atkins diet, yeah didnt work. I tried doing it on my own and I cheated and couldn't get back into the routine of exercising. At my house I have a manual tredmill, 2 five pound weights, a wheelie, and resistance bands.
I know what to do and what to eat I guess I just need the willpower and motivation. Does anybody have any tips.
This has really been bothering me lately, especially since I started High School. Like everyone I want to be accepted and popular but that's just not gonna happen because of how shallow other people are when it comes to weight.
Also I recently found out that My Father has dieabetes, as well as my mom.
Does anyone have any specific exercises and routines that I could do without having to go to a gym or anything., just usuing my tredmill, wheelie, weights and resistance bands.
Any chat rooms involving people with the same problem would be EXTREMELY helpful.

You don't have to do anything special in regard to exercise - you just need to do it. At least 30 minutes a day. Whether that's walking on your treadmill, or walking outside, etc. I know how hard it is just to get started - so even if you only do 10 minutes at a shot at first, that's ok!!! Just start, and you will work up to it.

If both your parents have diabetes, you're very much at risk of developing it, too. Trust me, you don't want this condition. It is a lifelong thing with many physical and real-life complications. Please start now with exercise and diet and hopefully you can avoid it.

Watch your carbs, but you don't have to do anything as extreme as Atkins. Drink lots of water and eat foods that are high in fiber. Eat smaller meals, more often - that'll help keep your metabolism burning away.

Don't be too harsh with yourself. If you mess up, just start again the next day. Don't put yourself on an unrealistic diet - eat healthy (you say you know what to eat, and I believe you) and treat your body well.

Head over to ivillage.com - there are some message boards over there for dieting that might be helpful to you.

I know how hard it is to be your age and dealing with a weight problem. Try not to let anyone else get you down. Your goal, in my opinion, should be your health and well-being and not about being accepted. Avoiding diabetes really should be a big motivator.

Just treat yourself well.

Good luck!!

Good health is priceless. If you had $30 million, you'd give it up in a heartbeat if you had a stroke because of your weight, just to get back a healthy body. LET THIS BE YOUR MOTIVATION.

You need to exercise, exercise, exercise. Do it every other day, Mon, Wed, Fri and rest on Sat and Sun. Do cardio-vascular exercises, and strength training. Only you can motivate yourself. You must want to do it.

Eat anything you want, EXCEPT sugar, sweet things, sugary sodas, and excessive carbos. REMEMBER nothing with sugar in it. After about 3 weeks, you will hate sugary stuff and wonder how you ever could like it.

The GOOD PART
After about 2 months of working out consistently, it will become a habit and you will actually miss it if you don't work out.

Good luck and ask God to help you get started. Once you start, DON'T STOP. Remember, it's only 1 hr 3 times a week. The benefits will last a lifetime!

It can be very frustrating trying to lose weight for any reason, but being stressed about it can make it more difficult. Try talking to people who are also dieting, and if possible talk with them daily. I know that Adkins can work, but u have to have exercise too, walking and swimming are great for beginners, jogging is good, especially if u have a nice place to do so. I don't know of any specific chat rooms, but u can look me up anytime u like, and I would b happy to help u find suitable exercises. I just had a baby 4 weeks ago and I am trying to lose weight myself.

My daughter is 16 and 250lbs. I was 380 a year ago, but am down now to 275. Here is how I did it.

I lost 105 pounds in 6 months. Here is how I did it.
1. Every morning get up and walk for 45 minutes. You can start with less time, but you want to get up to 45 minutes, and it must be fast walk. You want your heart rate to go up. It must be in the morning, it kick starts your metabolism.
2. I cut out Red Meat, and fatty foods. Boneless skinnless chicken breast, baked, or grilled, rice and vegetables (steamed).
3. Eat half. Just eat half of what you normally eat. Put 1/2 on your plate, and put the rest away. Cook less. When you go to fast food, get salads only. Or grilled chicken. No fries, only diet soda. Or water.

It will work, once you get into a routine, you will get hooked on the results, and you will keep the routine. It has been over a year for me.

You are very young and quite overweight. Perhaps a group setting would help you, like Weight Watcher's.

Start with your family doctor, and go from there. You may already have diabetes. Have some blood work done.

And make this a priority, a number 1. goal. If you don't have a healthy body, you really will not have much else.

Please give it a try. Go to a doctor and get some help.

best wishes to you.

Good carbs like celery and carrots will never make you fat. Bad carbs like cake will, but you don't need to know the whole science of glycemic index and load. It is mostly NOT your fault, if you need to lose weight. The way we have been taught to eat is responsible for making obesity the number one health problem in the world (according to Atlantic Monthly magazine) replacing hunger and infectious disease. You need to re-learn how to eat so you can become thin. Not a diet, but diet lifestyle.

Find out about fastest way to lose weight, gradual ways to lose weight, most effective exercise, good and bad carbs and anti-water. Lose bodyfat and retained water which also makes you a lot fatter (bloated). Links page has gov. BMI calculater to find out just how much overweight you are (teens plug in your age to compare to others your age). Get latest info like American Heart Association does not want you to eat more than 6 ounces daily of meat, fish or poultry. Most important-- make sure to read the last "fat loss tip", first before anything else, to see the number one food that causes Americans to be fat.

Make small, gradual changes and over time, they will have an extremely powerful effect on you.

Check out http://www.obesitykills.iconfessional.com . The guy there is an ex-Marine, like myself, and he's putting together a program for himself in his blog that will get him back into shape. It will work for pretty much anyone and he's doing it all publically.

He's not selling anything, just sharing what he's doing as he does it. He's hoping for encouragement and motivation from his readers.

Hope that helps.
