due to Spanish being taught as a 1st language, instead of a 2nd language. My kids have gone through school and have been pushed aside & were made to listen to Spanish 1st, then translated in English. Why??? Because the majority of students in class these days are Mexican children. I felt it necessary to take my children out of the public school system due to this unfortunate circumstance; but... what about other American parents who can't afford alternative education for their children. Should American kids have to suffer???

No they shouldn't! I completly agree with you. It is not fair. These kids should no how to speak English or not be able to attend our schools. Why should our children have to suffer? What kind of injustice is this? We need to all stand up and do something!

Hay American kids Mexican kids Ghetto kids are all going to suffer as long as the teachers unions determine where we can send are kids The American education system gas been trashed by liberal teachers unions and top heavy administrations When parents are given a choice Competition will set the agenda not the teachers unions. The good teachers will double their pay and the tenured teachers will finally get their smaller class size

Your children is missing a golden opportunity to learn Spanish while they are young and not intimidated by learning anything new. Public school is the one thing that teaches children democracy. American kids are not suffering from Latino children. What they are suffering from is the No Child Left Behind. The average child is being totally shoved aside. The gifted children are being limited in their scope of opportunity in order to provide more resources for the special needs children. The special needs child has all of the advantages. I do not begrudge anything for the special needs child, but I know that their learning styles and disabilities are limiting the pace and accomplishments of the average child so that most classrooms in America are dummying-down so that all children can achieve in the same type of classroom. Bush did not do American education a favor with NCLB.

in what state do you live? you might wanna move to another state with a lower Mexican population.

I never heard of students learning Spanish as a first language. I'm sure they are just trying to help the Spanish-speaking students learn English. they can't just be thrown into the English-only school system and expect to understand everything.

also they are trying to have children learn a new language when they are young, when it is easier.

It has been in the back burner and not because they're teaching Spanish, dear.

The US has the worst educational system in the world. Even in South American and Central American countries, kids take an average of 14 classes, not counting gym!

It isn't American kids teh ones ready for college after high school. Look at European educational systems that leave ours ga-ga

So if they want to teach them Spanish here, all the better for them

You should move here. Being able to at least speak English is required to enter school here.

Drop the Spanish BS , and drill kids harder on math and science. Force them to learn something worth learning, they are our future, and they are being taught stupid **** that will not improve this country or help keep the U.S. on top.
