I the question I asked before was answered well. But, I am certain it was misunderstood. I owe nothing. I am free of any debt except my home mortgage. I have a really bad credit score. I have checked my score and I have 3 or 4 bad things on it. I need to know if a bankruptcy would help my score. or would just waiting it out be the best thing?

Bankruptcy is used to get out of debt...NOT to fix your credit score. It will completely ruin it!

Try disputing the bad items and follow the procedures. See the link below. If you get lucky they may take the bad items off.

How can you have no debt outside a mortgage and have a bad credit score? Bankruptcy is the worst thing you can do.

Not your best option.

You know when you fill out a job or loan application and you are asked if you've ever filed for bankruptcy? Yeah, you'll never been looked at in the same light.

Bad credit will only stay with you for 7 years.
Bankruptsy will never leave you. You have to live with it for the rest of your life.

Personally I wouldn't worry about it. You don't need a credit card. You don't have any debt. Congrats--why would you want to ruin all that for perfect credit and a lifetime of businesses and banks looking at you poorly?

Bankruptcy would make it worse and is impossible if you owe nothing. Its unnecessary if you can afford your home payments. The only thing that can correct your credit is to pay your bills on time and Perhaps buy a thing or two on credit and pay them off on time. Bankruptcy is for people who cannot pay their bills AND have credit that is already destroyed. It takes time to correct bad credit.

It will make your score even lower. Waiting it out is your best option.
