How long does it typically take to graduate from the police academy?

it will depend on the state and at times the department within the state. Six to nine months is commom.

Also after you graduate the academy you will have another six months to a year in field training working with a field training officer

Depends on the individual academy. Some basic academies may be as little as 16 weeks, while others can be 9 months long.

Here in White Pine County, Nevada where I live, our Sheriff's Office go to a 16 week Police Academy in Carson City, and when they return, they spend four more months with a Field Training Officer (FTO).

In Arkansas its 3 months, for the State Police its 6 months

In Illinois, they range from 10 to 14 weeks. State Troopers go for 26 weeks.
