It shows you what it thinks is the correct exposure.
By adjustting the shutter speed and aperture until the needle is centered, you will get average results for average scenes.

Since this is a purely mechanical camera, you don't need it if you have another method of arriving at the shutter speed and aperture to suit your needs - such as separate light meter, instinct/experience or wish to guess at the exposure.

The role of the light meter in this camera might be merely a curiosity as you may not be able to purchase a replacement battery for the light meter.

properly, you need to take the photo, or it gained't advance the movie (why might want to it provide help to advance the movie in case you haven't taken the photo yet?) The dirt debris probable basically skill the interior the digital camera is grimy (it desires a cleansing). that's in hardship-free words a situation if there are specs on the lens (when you consider that they'd take position on your images). grimy reflect or viewfinder does no longer impact photo high quality.

the light meter will help in figuring out the proper f-stop for the exposure/ film combo. It measures the amount of light that is available for the exposure.

When you dial in a shutter speed and aperture, the meter will tell you if the shot will be over/under/ correctly exposed.
