It is a "greedy and voracious habitual doing of something",
usually thoughts refer to eating and drinking, but it can also
include other bad habits. Just remember, it's better to do
everything in moderation. Does that answer your question?

The Seven deadly Sins not in any respect ensue as a suitable list contained in the Bible. some human beings say they could all be found in Matthew's Gospel (chapters 5 by 7), yet they don't seem in an undemanding list there. Others submit Proverbs 6:16-19, yet it is a distinct list, masking delight, lies, homicide, evil plans, swiftness in sin, lies back, inflicting conflict. obviously not an same. those sins were talked about as a set round an same time because the Bible became being translated right into a unmarried language. particularly than those sins being talked about in a unmarried position contained in the Bible, they are stumbled on all by it, from Genesis to Revelation. The letters of the hot testomony aspect out all of those, and so on besides. The Catechism has many Scriptural references contained in the realm that lists the "Seven deadly Sins." it really is nicely to keep in mind that the Scriptures come from the Jewish and Christian church homes, not any incorrect way round. In both circumstances, faith preceded the writing.

Yes, gluttony considered sinful behavior. Being overweight would be debatable.
Look at it like this: driving an automobile while drunk is a sin, but having a broken neck from the crash is not.

The only thing in the Bible that may tell you that overeating is a sin is 1 Corinthians 3: 16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? 1 Corinthians 3: 17 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are. A person that has not believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died for their sins is condemned already. John 3: 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

The love of food to the point of greed and excess indulgence. Overeating and overweight would be one result. (Not everyone with a weight problem is gluttonous. There are health conditions that do lead to weight problems.) Think about it . . . while one person overindulges, someone else may starve.

Webster’s New International Dictionary of the English Language (Second Edition) defines “gluttony” as “excess in eating; extravagant indulgence of the appetite; voraciousness.” It describes a glutton as “one who eats voraciously, or to excess; a gormandizer; one who gluts himself in any way.”

Jehovah God showed how strongly he felt about the matter of gluttony. He commanded parents to take an incorrigibly stubborn and rebellious son to the city elders and inform them: “This son of ours is stubborn and rebellious; he is not listening to our voice, being a glutton and a drunkard.” Notice the characteristics associated with a glutton. His being stubborn and rebellious certainly brings shame to his parents, humiliating them in the eyes of others.—Deut. 21:18-21; compare Proverbs 28:7.

Yes gluttony means to overeat.
You know how some people eat and eat, they just keep going and going, even after they get full, they just don't stop. That's gluttony.

It is doing anything to excess. Being overweight is not a sin but it is a symptom possibly that sin has occurred.
